Yesterday"Scarborough Country" FULL-ON anti-Moore Character Assassination!
Edited on Fri Jun-18-04 12:34 PM by Delano
I haven't watched pig-eyed Killer Joe in quite some time, but I've noticed he's toned down his ulra-right-wing jingoistic tone, but not his deceptive, biased content.

There was almost no discussion of the validity of thee facts presented in the film, just some hack named Dave Bossie, who's peddling a book about how "Clinton's National Security Policy Set the Stage for 9/11" (here's an unflattering bio of Bossie from a RIGHT-WING site) http://www.wnd.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=16608 .

EDIT: I forgot to mention, Bossie is running a nationwide TV spot during Clinton's upcoming 60 Minutes appearance to smear Clinton's record on National security - a thinly veiled pro-Bush ad.

Killer Joe repeated about ten times that "Moore has compared the terrorists who beheaded Nick Berg with George Washington and Thomas Jeffferson"

LIE. Moore said that Iraqis fighting against illegal US occupation are revolutionaries, not unlike our founding fathers. He did NOT say anything about terrorists or assassins like the (supposed) Al Qaeda members who killed Berg.

He repeated numerous times that "A group connected to Hezbollah" had recommended the film.

I don't know about this, but it sounds fishy, IMO.

THen he brought on the Repug congressman who Moore approaches in the movies trailer asking congresspeople to sign up their kids to fight in Iraq. The congressman is indignant that Moore didn't show his response that his "cousin has signed up". Of course this does nothing to change the validity of Moore's contenttion that there is only one member of congress with a child serving in Iraq. A cousin is not your child! Anyway, the congressman, being a rightwinger encouraged everyone to boycott the film.

Scarface then read off a list of supposed Moore lies "He likened the NRA to the KKK" (who wants to bet that there is a BIG overlap in their memberships!) It was a hell of a piece of character assassination.

I just wonder if mainstream folks who watch this stuff see through what an obvious hit piece it is, or if they take it hook, line and sinker as they did the hit pieces on Jim Garrison 35 years ago?

I am not going to miss Fahrenheit 9-11.

3. Assuming everyone who saw Scarborough Country believes it...
Then that's a grand total of about 20 people who won't be attending the movie.

4. "mainstream folks who watch this stuff ..."
No need to worry.

No one watches Killer Joe. Mainstream or otherwise. He has about as much influence as a test pattern :hi:

5. I happened to catch Joe too. Good post.
FYI Bossie was investigator for Starr. On Scarborough, he said he was "proud" to be part of the vast right wing conspiracy.

Call me stupid, but I had to dash off a letter to Joe. I wrote:

Dear Scarborough,

Congratulations! You continue to raise the limits on hypocrisy. You question the honesty of Michael Moore, the film maker by saying that Richard Clarke “pulled the strings” on the evacuation of the Saudis.

I heard the interview with Clarke and he said that he “signed off” on the action but was not instrumental. Clarke surmised it was orchestrated by State or Defense.

Once again, you champion the idea that it is OK for right wingers to lie and misinform, (ironically, you do represent yourself as some sort of journalist) while anything liberals do must be held to the highest standard.

I don’t suppose you read letters like this as you are committed to your agenda, and truthfulness on your part is just an inconvenience.

Yes, fellow DUers, I know I shoudn't waste my time but seeing Joe in Phil's slot just always gets my blood moving.

7. last night I cued in a wrong number
on the remote & found this program on the screen. It would B laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. There was actually a list of 'Moore Lies' being printed on the screen ala top 10 list, so I actually learned something. Who knew his audience could read!?!!??
