Why Goerge Bush could win in 2004
It again comes down to simplicity, folks. They control the message.

This week has been horrible for George Bush, but in the end it's just a blip on the radar screen and is almost completely gone now.

Why? Simple, they control the message. No matter how bad it gets in any given week, come Friday the news turns around. As we all know, it's all about Friday and controlling the message going into the weekend.

Some how, some way, the DLC, DNC and the rest have GOT to take control of the message. Some how, some way, the bad news must not come out on Monday, but must be released on Friday afternoons.

How the hell do we get this idea from a DU post out into cyberspace so that those who have been leaking the bad news learn, DO IT LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON!

1. Up until election, even if we are 10pts up we have to work like 10 down
there is no way around it. if they lose, the go down in history as failures and they will not let that happen at any cost, even if it means destroying America, us, the constitution you name it

2. I don't think that's just it
When the news comes out, we need to keep the eye of the country fixed on it. They will try to bury everything, but there's some things they haven't been able to bury, like Abu Graib. It's still causing them a lot of damage, and if we keep people focused on it it will hurt (as it should). We just can't let stories roll away by the weekend.

3. I agree Bush can still pull this election out
if he can scare enough people with "terra" or if it is close enough to steal or if Kerry doesn't start paying more attention to the base instead of taking them for granted.

6. George Bush can win
because we will yield on the foreign policy issues and only talk about things such as the minimum wage and jobs. Therefore, our message will not be broad enough to carry the day. You most certainly have the DLC to thank for that. The me too dems will lose again. It proves it's failure as a strategy over and over and over again.

7. It is a problem, I agree
but I'm just glad to see the Reagan funeral dirge and bad news for Bush coming back to the forefront. I'm pretty sure these issues aren't going away. They'll just keep building.

9. Kerry has GOT to get some fire into that ticket to wake up the
many apathetic Dems. And I am talking someone who has the nerve to be controversial, daring and "in your face" with the Bush crowd and the media. We have to stop running scared, "oooooh what will they think..." -
We must believe in our message. To hell with what they say about us. Take it straight to the people and inoculate ourselves from their typical rebuttal campaign of lies and hate by explaining exactly how they will try to destroy our message ("They're CRAZY!" Their INSANE!" et al) We must beat them to the punch before they get the words our of their mouths - "They will say we are crazy, they will call us names and insult us and our families but we will stand up and tell the American people the truth..."

I know Sen Byrd in the Senate but the average American doesn't see it.

12. It would help if Kerry would actually say something.
Of course, that would require that he not "play it safe" and step outside the DLC playbook. Instead he's doing his damndest to stay non-controversial and play to the mythic "middle" just like Gore did.

Face it. This election isn't going to be decided by "likability", or, "which candidate understands my problems". It's going to be decided by a bunch of insurgents in Iraq, or some guy with a bomb strapped around him.

Instead of offering a real alternative to that, Kerry is so busy trying not to offend anyone, that he's saying nothing but "me too, but not as bad" to a people who want a way out of Iraq and some real answers to the growing anti-Americanism around the world.
