Bush's choice: Liar or incompetent
Is anyone else surprised at the course Bush and Cheney are taking here? In the wake of the 9/11 Commission's conclusion that Iraq and al Qaeda were not linked after people had argued just that for nearly two years now, Bush and Cheney still continue to assert that the connection existed despite their reluctance to provide this massive amount of evidence they claim to have. Without providing the evidence, they only options they really have are to look like liars or to look completely incompetent, and it seems they are choosing the "liar" route. This comes after the State of the Union "gaffe" and the lack of WMDs in Iraq.

The question is - how do we attack this? Do we simply demand he provide this evidence? Or is that simply asking to be lied to again? Do we just forego that and label him a liar? Do we continue John Kerry's assertions that the President is simply too incompetent to be President of the United States, which might be perceived by some passive supporters as being more appealing than the "liar" route? But doesn't that also give him a free pass?

3. Focused message
I'd go with one or the other. Can't flood the American brain, which is sadly easily flooded.

4. That's exactly what I thought
I mean I hate to say it, but most people would probably be ok with the invasion of Iraq if it had gone off smoothly. I remember one conservative friend who said "Well, yeah Bush lied, but that really doesn't matter does it?" (This was back in a period of time when things were going somewhat smoother). Bush's incompotance has leant relevance to his lies, if that makes any sense.

5. Constantly Changing Lies
The Bush Administration's constantly changing lies about the rationale for the War in Iraq and other matters reminds me of the old Monty Python parrot sketch.

A man (John Cleese) walks into a pet shop to report that the parrot he just purchased is dead.

The shopkeeper says "No, no sir, it’s not dead. It’s resting. Remarkable bird the Norwegian Blue, beautiful plumage"

"This parrot is dead."

"There it moved" (as he bumps the cage)

"What do you mean its not dead? Its nailed to its perch."

"Well of course it was nailed there. Otherwise it would muscle up to those bars and voom away.”

"This parrot is no more, its ceased to be. He's a stiff! Bereft of life! If you hadn't nailed him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!"

"Sorry, sir, we're closed for lunch."

9. classic skit...
"Voom? This parrot wouldn't voom if you put 9 million volts through it!" (I think it was 9 million)

Good comparison, though.

6. I can foresee
Chimpco stating it is true because he says it's true. After all in his heart of hearts(as if he has one) he knows he is above the law(because he is the law). If ya don't believe him, then you're an enemy of the state.
GET THIS- in his own mind(as if he has one) he is the SUPREME RULER OF THE WORLD and non adherence to his commands will NOT be tolerated.
I don't know if anyone else remembers FEARLESS,HEARTLESS,MINDLESS LEADER'S statement from the pre war demonstrations era, that "We will not let chaos develop". From that point I realized that Bush and cabal will happily gun down dissenters in the streets if that it is what it takes to maintain their brand of order.

7. Laughter is the best medicine...
Let's run their lies as ten second b/w spots ... gradually being drowned out by mocking laughter.
If we articulate any points, the media have W covered. Let 'em counter unspoken ridicule! Let 'em tell us we can't laugh at the idiot while the rest of the world has and yet does.

...O...

8. Incompetent is less incendiary a term and I'm sure quite true
We stand a much better chance of the Media picking up on that term than LIAR. Both are quite true but people are cowards and not willing to be so abrasive as to call Bush* a LIAR.
