CARPE DIEM Mr. Kerry: "White House misled world over Saddam"
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 07:49 PM by mzmolly
It's official - Bush lied!

By Andrew Buncombe in Washington ~ 17 June 2004

President George Bush, 1 May 2003 ~ "The liberation of Iraq removed... an ally of al-Qa'ida"

Vice-President Cheney, 22 January 2004 ~ "There's overwhelming evidence... of a connection between al-Qa'ida and Iraq"

Donald Rumsfeld, 14 November 2002 ~ "Within a week, or a month, Saddam could give his WMD to al-Qa'ida"

Condoleezza Rice, 17 September 2003 ~ "Saddam was a danger in the region where the 9/11 threat emerged"

The Bush administration's credibility was dealt a devastating blow yesterday when the commission investigating the attacks of 11 September said there was no credible evidence that Saddam Hussein's regime had assisted al-Qa'ida - something repeatedly suggested by the President and his senior officials and held up as a reason for the invasion of Iraq.

Does he have a statement today about the official ruling?

Also, I am not saying he won't sieze this moment, only that I hope he does. I also hope he removes all "nuance" from his statements if/when he does ...

He did say this:

While he did say:"The administration misled America and the administration reached too far," on Michigan National Public Radio.

I think it's time for the L word John. "Bring ... It ... On!" :P

9. Nuance. Well, yeah.
How about this for nuance, from the NY Times editorial:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/17/opinion/17THU1.html

It's perversely called "The Plain Truth", but they go out of their way to avoid saying "Bush lied". From the ed.

"Of all the way Mr. Bush persuaded Americans to back the invasion of Iraq last year, the most plainly dishonest was his effort to link his war of choice with the battle of terrorists worldwide...There are two unpleasant alternatives: either Mr. Bush knew he was not telling the truth, or he has a capacity for politically motivated self-deception that is terrifying."

Note how they call him Mister Bush, and not President Bush, and how he was "plainly dishonest". It's obvious they have deliberately fashioned a harssh statement. But they can't say "Bush lied".

They say that "Bush knew he was not telling the truth". Isn't that the definition of a lie? When you say something you KNOW is not true? But they can't say it because that's not an editorial, that's a front-page headline.

Ever so slowly.

What pisses me off to no end though is that - THEY KEEP LYING AND WE'RE BASICALLY SAYING NOTHING. GRRRR !

Off work now and headed home, yep I was working believe it or not ... at my little part-time fun job ... It's more like a vacation. ;)

Check back with you all later. :hi:

10. Ask the folks you see every day ...
Since the 9/11 Commission has completely rebutted any link between AlQ and Iraq, and Bush continues to equate the two ...

Either the Administration is flat out LYING about that connection, or they are too stupid/willfully ignorant to correct the bogus intelligence they got which made that link.

Either way, do you want people this out of touch leading your country ?!?!?

Things that make ya' go hmmmmmmm ...

So we just sent this article back to them with the subject line:
Another history lesson...
