4. AOL is a lost cause, IMHO
I pity the fools using them as an ISP.

11. Have you checked with your local cable TV provider?
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 06:07 PM by 0rganism
They may be able to set you up with both digital cable and a cable modem for around $40/month.

Or see if your phone company can give you DSL bandwidth, and hire a local ISP to get you on the net.

Even if you can't get DSL, there may well be a local ISP that gives you cheaper dial-in service than AOL.

Or, perhaps, you are truly screwed and AOL is the only "ISP" in your area, in which case I do pity you.

16. Digital AND a cable modem for $40 a month??
Not from any cable company around here. My cable TV (not digital) is included in the rent, but I'm paying $46 a month just for the broadband connection.

20. Well, it's going to depend on your cable providers
For instance, Comcast is running a deal in my area where non-subscribers can get broadband internet access for $30/month, and subscribers can get it for $20.

21. Don't want to pay $40. a month
Edited on Fri Jun-18-04 11:07 AM by Virginian
We dial in when we are traveling. Can't do that with most other plans.
No high speed plan is less than $40. After you pay for the firewall and other extras, it is even higher. We have 10% discount w/AOL.

I wish we had Comcast. I have heard they are good with the combination deals, but we have Cox in this region. Most of my neighbors have the dish. When I have a cable outage, the help desk comments that there have been no other complaints in my area to which I respond that I am their only customer in my area.

Meanwhile, I just voted five times. You do use all those free screen names you're allowed, don't you? ;)

17. If you're not using all your free screen names, you can make some up
and use them for polls and all those times when you don't want to use your real e-mail address. Sort of like having two mailboxes on the sidewalk, with one for the junkmail. :)

19. Change the names around. Moore for Gibson and Passion for F 9/11
and you would get the opposite results.

Gibson OK to do the Passion of Christ and it is OK that he was self serving and made lots of money.

Moore not OK to do F 9/11 and not OK that he is self serving and is going to make lots of money.

The difference is the wing nut mentality. The loved Gibson until he told them to go fuck themselves.
