Well CNN sure sings a different tune
They had Christiane Amanpour on the large number of civilian casualties, then the 9/11 hearing "US unprepared in every respect", then Rumsfeld forced to release the ghost detainee...

Is the giant awake?

1. Probably not. It is probably just "rolling over" to get comfortable
and then fall to sleep.

7. damn I don't read enough :-)
"R'lyeh (pronounced Roo-lee-ah) is a fictional city that first appeared in the writings of H. P. Lovecraft. R'lyeh is a sunken city deep under the Pacific Ocean
where the godlike being Cthulhu
resides."

I was referring to the Giant of US public opinion :-)

and thanks for the tip !

4. Christiane is back.
She is the lead foreign correspondent and has been all but absent for awhile. She is back now and I think that has a lot to do with the attitude shift. She has spent the last few months in the UK and has viewed this foreign policy crisis from afar, along with CNN reporting which has "gone with the flow" of late. I sure she won't stand for it.
