Do you read David Brock's mediamatters.org?
And if so, does it make your head explode as well?

Here's the latest passage:

On the June 15 edition of FOX News Channel's Special Report with Brit Hume, the network's chief political correspondent, Carl Cameron, noted that a line Senator John Kerry frequently uses on the campaign trial was written by award-winning Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes, who, Cameron claimed, "often" attacked religion and God and made pro-communism remarks.

From the June 15 edition of FOX News Channel's Special Report with Brit Hume:

CAMERON: And to illustrate his optimism, he often quotes Langston Hughes, who often attacked religion and God and praised communism, but did pen this favorite Kerry line...

KERRY:

6. Gladly!
Do I have to go through initiation (as long as is it isn't a Rush like Skull n Bones initiation) and do I get a badge?

:)

:toast:

I'm in!

it's a terrific site.

I bookmarked a page that lists Limbaugh's lies and hate comments. The largest category was in the misogyny category, which of course makes my head explode in a big way.

Where I work, there is a small group of secretaries, all women, in our department who are big Rush fans. THAT makes my head explode. I made some disgusted comments about Bush to one of them one day and now she and the rest of the Rush-fans don't speak to me. I wasn't buds with them to begin with, but things were always friendly. It just makes me nuts...and these are women, underpaid undereducated women listening to that pig Rush who has no compassion or respect for the feminine nor for the underpaid. I just dont get it.

And yeah I'm a DU addict too.

Also, I read something when I surfed over to The Nation recently that really left me feeling confused. It was an archived page where one of their reviewers beat the crap out of David Brock's book, Blinded by the Right. A real attack peice and I didn't know what to make of it, being printed in The Nation and all. I can't remember that writer's name, I'm embarassed to admit, but I think his byline is something like "the other view" or something that implied he is the "guest righty" there to provide the opposing view. ??

Anyone have an explanation? I was extremely impressed by Brock's book, and it was one of the ones that opened my eyes (that and "Best Democracy Money Can Buy"), so it was pretty unsettling to read such a violent critique in from The Nation which I trust.

9. Maybe you should start a "crusade" to get those women to realize
they are voting against their own best interests. It would be terrific if you could convince them that when Rush speaks of the feminazi's, he is talking about them. Women who work outside the home...etc. It sounds like they desperately need to be reminded that they are the working class americans that Rush and this administration seek to destroy. I know they aren't talking to you and that makes it rather unlikely they will listen to you, but maybe it is worth a try!

As far as David Brocks book, the only theory that comes to mind, (and I remember falling for it myself), was maybe people questioned his intentions when he first came out against the conservatives. I thought he was rather disingenuous at first. I thought he was such a scumbag when he was shilling for the right, I thought for sure he was "up to something" at first. That is my experience. Maybe somebody else could offer theirs.

10. thats a good remark
I wish I could come up with real quick soundbites for times like that, if the occasion should arrise. But usually I can't--I usually lose my train of thought and can only gulp helplessly something like "But, But,...Lies! Propaganda! Bad Bad!! Urk Choke" Then I collapse in an outrage induced fit.

There's just so much awful crap, I haven't sussed out one real knock-out punch. Plus, most of the lies and bullshit sound good on their face to those who like the shallow hate spews and arguments against that crap require someone able to engage in some critical thinking. I don't think most Flush fans fit that description.

anyhow, the negative review of Brock--I wish I could show you the link, but that would take a little searching, which I am too tired to do right now. Gotta get to bed, I've been indulging my DU addiction too much.

11. chatterbox in slate reamed him, too...something about chatterbox's wife
having first hand knowledge of some alledge misstatements or something

didn't read much of it, cause it had very biased tone

rest assured, though, that very little of his book has been refuted; especially some embarrassing moments involving Drudge, Coulter, Graham, and a few others

they can't refute it, cause it's TRUE

the Ledeen/Thomas stuff isn't true, according to Mrs. Ledeen, but they're such PROVEN scum that it isn't necessary to give them credence

they, along with Ken Duberstein, Bowden Grey, and Joe Biden, are the four people most responsible for foisting Clarence Thomas upon us
