W.Post editorial: Cheney didn't lie!!!!
Betcha they'll end up supporting Bush, - after all the Washington Post editorial board supported the Iraq invasion from the start.
This morning's editorial DEFENDS Cheney's assertions about Saddam. I really couldn't believe their rationale. Here's the line that totally floored me - concerning Cheney's remarks over the Saddam-alQaeda connection:

"Administration foes seized on this sentence to claim that Vice President Cheney has been lying, as recently as this week, about a purported relationship between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda. The accusation is nearly as irresponsible as the Bush administration's rhetoric has been."

Entire article:

Methinks it's time for huge numbers of letters to the editor to protest this. Mine is already there...

1. So noting that someone is flat-out lying
So, calling a lying liar a liar "is nearly as irresponsible" as the lie the lying liar lied?

Absolutely fatuous. I remember a time when the Washington Post actually had some integrity. No, it's true! Really!

2. Interesting
So it's almost as irresponsible to point out a lie as it is to tell one?

5. I prefer this editorial...
From Milwaukee Journal Sentinal...

While the Washington Post is floating down the river of denial, not all major newspapers have it wrong. These folks got it right:

"On Wednesday, however, the staff of the independent commission investigating the 9-11 attacks portrayed a very different reality: It reported that Iraq under Hussein and bin Laden's al-Qaida were hardly partners in arms. Rather, the links between the two appear to have been tentative, occasional and insubstantial." :nuke:

4. So the ENTIRE right wing would be irresponsible for claiming
That Clinton lied under oath? Because God knows they showed restraint.

6. Time for a little retribution from the almighty...
... like the Potomac overflowing, and DC sewage wafting into the editorial offices of the Post.

Far cry from when Ben Bradlee was running the place.

8. Bull-fucking-shit
Cheney said Saddam was providing training camps to Al Qaeda and bomb-making assistance, as well as a long running relationship.

Al Qaeda contacted Iraq, and several other countries, asking for assistance. They got none. End of fucking story.

These people are really, really pissing me off.
