Today's Excite poll - 54% believe Saddam-al Qaida link
This scares the shit out of me. Are Americans really that stupid? Apparently we are.

Yesterday, the commission investigating the September 11 attacks reported that there was "no credible evidence" that Saddam Hussein had ties with al-Qaida. The Bush administration has long claimed links between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida, and cited these links as one reason for last year's invasion of Iraq. (AP)

Do you think Saddam Hussein had ties to al-Qaida?

Yes 54% => 3985 votes

No 39% => 2890 votes

I'm not sure 5% => 401 votes

I don't care 1% => 85 votes
Current number of voters: 7361

Here's the link to the poll. I think you have to be a registered user to participate.

8. I doubt it.
I'm pretty sure you need to be a registered Excite user to participate, thus, Excite polls don't lend themselves well to freeping.

15. excite polls are always right-leaning
I am a registered user, but I know that they can be freeped. They don't care how many times you vote. So lots of frothing assholes are freeping the poll.

7. Yes. Crashcart keeps saying it over and over again, so it must be true
I call it the Goebbel's doctrine. Say it over and over again, and the public will buy it. Good ol' Nazi strategy.

4. What scares me is that anyone actually uses excite
Yes, the numbers are appalling - but so is the tolerance of the American people. As Mr. Pitt said so well in his recent TruthOut column, we need to look past 9-11 and really consider if we would tolerate any of what Bush* has done in a "typical" world. None of it would pass the smell test and we need to hammer that home to those who get their news from Leno and Rush and the other asswipes.

9. I prefer it to Yahoo.
I don't know why. The poll questions are usually pretty stilted. This one was unusually straightforward. I should post the Excite poll questions on GD every day so people can see what I mean.

16. it is better than Yahoo
Yahoo is full of its own hype. It's more marketing than substance. Excite has the best homepage customizing in terms of news, weather, and information. Their polls suck, but then again, what online polls do not?

5. It's the 'Giant Conspiracy of International Badness' theory
Many people seem to think that if one group of people from a specific race is committing crimes and another group of people from the same race is also committing crimes, there has to be some connection. Lazy, quasi-racist thinking, but there you go.
