neocon strategy 101: lie loudly and recant quietly (if at all)
does anybody else get that feeling reading/watching the news lately? the lies are shouted and made much of, and then if the truth is subsequently revealed, you can hardly hear it over the roar of the set distractions. 'ok, it's coming out that we lied about the torture, but if we pile some other stuff on top of that nobody'll really hear it.'

sorry, i was just reading about the perpetuation of the 9/11-saddam lie by the bush administration (after the commission has more or less decided that they did lie) and got a bit riled up.
