"Neoconservative Republican"
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 08:48 PM by Best_man23
I am giving this label to all self-described repugs, no matter their ilk or position.

I want the words "conservative" and "neoconservative" to have the same negative connotation as fascist.

Damn neoconservative republicans, can't trust any of them.

1. Except Conservative is no more equal to Fascist than...
...Liberal is to Communist.

2. That's a mistake.
You can't tar them all with the same brush. Senators such as Snowe, Collins, Hagel, McCain, and Chafee may one day rebel against these "Utopian Anarchists." The winds have shifted. The Neocons are on their way out. Mark my words.

Oh, and if Bush is actually elected in November (though I doubt it), I wouldn't be surprised to see one or more of the above go Independent and caucus with the Dems, just as Jim Jeffords did before.

4. Your assumption is incorrect.
While we may have legitimate differences with many traditional conservatives, they are not fascists. On top of that, we have the additional dillemma of so called "Democrats" who are, in fact, neoconservative PNAC fascists.

To put it simply, I would rather argue legitimate policy differences over a pitcher of beer with Pat Buchanan than listen to a Will Marshall speech at a "Democratic" event, knowing his script is coming directly from the likes of Perle and Wolfoshitz.

True conservatives are my political opponents, but they are not my enemies. Neocon fascists are the enemy of every man, woman, and child on this planet, regardless of which party they claim to be a member of.

And that is a very REAL difference that everybody needs to wake up to RIGHT NOW!

5. The problem I've run up against
Is that some people automatically equate the word "neoconservative" to anti-jew. I don't know why, but I've been accused of being anti-semetic more than once because I ranted against neoconservatism.

For the record, I don't get the connection between jews and neconservatism.

7. Just Because Most of the Prominent Neocons are Jewish
doesn't mean opposition to their agenda equals antisemitism. These articles should explain quite a lot about the origins of their ideology.

http://www.secularhumanism.org/library/fi/drury_24_4.htm

I don't even consider antisemitism in my personal opposition to the neocons, since most of the adherents are secular Jews.

In point of fact, the neoconservative philosophy has more in common with communism as advocated by Trotsky than it resembles anything like conservative American politics.

I pointed this out to a freeper once - that he was embracing a political ideology founded by disaffected leftist Jewish intellectuals. He got quite steamed, but he didn't have anything resembling a coherent rebuttal.

.. and I am not yet allowed to make a new post, so I will a smuggle a quote in here, where at least I know someone will dig its origin

"As for the Republicans - how can one regard seriously a frightened, greedy, nostalgic huddle of tradesmen and lucky idlers who shut their eyes to history and science, steel their emotions to against decent human sympathy, cling to sordid and provincial ideals exalting sheer acquisitiveness and condoning artificial hardship for the non-materially-shrewd, dwell smugly and sentimentally in a distorted dream-cosmos of outmoded phrases and principles and attitudes based on the bygone agricultural-handicraft world, and revel in (consciously or unconsciously) mendacious assumptions (such as the notion that real liberty is synonymous with the single detail of unrestricted economic license, or that a rational planning of resource-distribution would
contravene some vague and mystical "American heritage"...) utterly contrary to fact and without the slightest foundation in human experience? Intellectually, the Republican idea deserves the tolerance and respect one gives the dead."
H.P. Lovecraft, 1936
quoted in "H.P. Lovecraft, a Life" by S.T. Joshi, p. 574
