http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,1413,82~1865~1570059,00.html

Fewer than half certain on Iraq war
By Thomas Hargrove and Guido H. Stempel III
"Public confidence in America's military involvement in Iraq has eroded recently with 42 percent of U.S. adults now describing themselves as "not certain" that committing troops to war was the right thing to do."

(skip)

"Bush's approval rating also has dropped, with 52 percent saying they approve of what he has done as president, a 12-percentage point decline in less than three months and the lowest number yet recorded by the polls since he took office in January 2001. The general feeling that America is headed "in the right direction" has taken a hit recently as well."

What’s it going to be?

a. Invade Syria
b. Invade Iran
c. Let it happen on purpose (act ll)
d. Make it happen on purpose (act ll)

11. Osama will never be heard from again
Even this morning, when the Idiot Son of an Asshole was announcing the capture of the latest Al Qaeda gofer, he only referred to Khalid Sheik Yerbooti as the "mastermind" of 9-11, no mention of Bin Hidin at all. Osama served his purpose, providing an excuse to bomb the shit out of the Taliban. Now he's entirely irrelevant, and is probably playing golf with Poppy & OJ Simpson over at Kennebunkport. Saddam will join them in a few months after the Iran/Syria/Liberia/North Korea invasion progresses.

15. Those might give a temporary bump
but would not be enough to keep him high. It takes something major to cause a 30-40 point jump, and those wouldn't cut it.

just like they're on the black gold in Iraq.

His behavior is predictable.

7. if they say 52%
count on it being 40-42% in reality.

When the polls get this low, a distraction may be in the works.

9. My only worry is that...
he could be bottoming out too soon. Just like candidates fear peaking too soon.

He's still got a lot of time to wag the dog.

12. The numbers should be reversed
The approval rating should be 25%, not 52%. Still too high.

13. He let 3,000 die with higher numbers....
That 52% and going lower is scary shit. Coupled with the fact that Chimpster has to go into high gear on his 04 run and needs another 9/11 to pull his ass out of the fire.

No telling who or how many more will get killed propping up this illegal administration....

16. Erroneous Headline
Headline says "Fewer than half certain on Iraw war" but that's not what the article reports. It reports that 32% are "absolutely certain" and 21% are "pretty certain" that the war was the correct thing to do. That's 53%.

As the article reports, 42% are "not certain."

The correct headline would be "Fewer than half not certain on Iraq war."

17. Actually it refers to his popularity rating.
Which is 52%. The fact that folks are awakening about the war is just icing.

"Bush's approval rating also has dropped, with 52 percent saying they approve of what he has done as president, a 12-percentage point decline in less than three months and the lowest number yet recorded by the polls since he took office in January 2001. 18. Nope
I wasn't refering to the subject line of this thread as being erroneous, but to the headline of the cited article, which is clearly incorrect in saying: "Fewer than half certain on Iraq war"

20. Well...
1) I'd like to see Binladen and Saadam caught even if it does mean he gets re-elected.

2) I'm sorry if you disagree but we got rid of the Taliban for a reason, they were sheltering the terrorists that attacked us.

3) He's not invading anymore countries, even if he wanted to we don't have the resources.

4) If the economy gets better which it might, he'll take credit for it saying it was entirely the tax cut that made the economy better. While the tax cut may help still... it's only $350 billion the 2002 GDP was $10 trillion and we were in recession that year. How much can that tax cut really help? If it does at all...

5) It's very dependent on who we choose as our candidate. From what I'm hearing this Clark guy sounds like he might be able to beat Bush.
