Transcript of Ron Reagan's speech
Here it is in its entirety:

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/apus_story.asp?category=1110&slug=Reagan%20Ron%20Reagan%20Text

And the excerpt about religion:

Dad was also a deeply, unabashedly religious man. But he never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage. True, after he was shot and nearly killed early in his presidency, he came to believe that God had spared him in order that he might do good. But he accepted that as a responsibility, not a mandate. And there is a profound difference.

8. Great idea.
Hope someone is thinking about that right now. I think Ron would let loose on Bush, and that would be a good thing. I think Nancy would let him too.

You're right, the pauses for emphasis thundered across the nation like the peals of the guns on the green ...

Sorry, I'm going to be stuck in overblown prosery for the next few hours.

book. Diana's brother was a jerk to her. All he did was make himself look like a jerk and insult the queen and embarass her sons.

I was hoping there would be a transcript. I thought he was superb - and I have no doubt Nancy approved 100%. (Say what you will, her sorrow tonight was palpable and I felt for her for the first time in my life. In the end, we are all reduced to the same human vunerabilities).

edited for mispelling.

14. It was powerful because it was subtle
It was very powerful. I felt he was looking directly at his mother when he said it, and they were both thinking - exactly as we discussed.

15. Does anyone think this is shot across the bow of Bush campaign?
I doubt the Reagan family wants Pres Reagan used by Shrub to pander for votes.

The * people have already talked about their convention "using" Reagan. I think Nancy sent a very clear message through Ron, Jr.

D'ya really think Poppy's parachute jump is what kept he and Barb out of Simi Valley tonight?

18. I'd love to see Ron Reagan run for office as a Democrat
He's smart, honest and poised, and he seems to get better as the years go by. Lesser people by far have traded on their name for public office. By far.
