JFK was buried in four days.(actually three)
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 04:22 PM by spanone
And this was a president that was assasinated while serving his term. This was way too far out of proportion. Sorry, I had to edit my thread line name. He was killed on the 22nd and buried on the 25th.

Was the Nixon funeral on a Friday?
Maybe it's tradition, I have to find out.

11. No, it was a Monday
Kennedy was assassinated at 12:30 CDT in Dallas on Friday, November 22nd. The funeral was the morning of Monday the 25th. Monday was declared a national day of mourning, and schools and businesses were closed. The country virtually came to a stop.

12. NO,
JFK was murdered on FRIDAY afternoon November 22, 1963. By late afternoon on Monday the 25th, he was in the ground at Arlington. It's not tradition. These fucking assholes want to milk this Reagasm for all it's worth :puke: But I swear, it'll backfire. Every time the push the envelop, they live to regret it. Mission Accomplished

6. 3 Days
and Jackie was 34 years old and planned the entire funeral, using Lincoln's as a model.

LBJ flew back from Texas and slept in his own house, not a bunker, until Jackie moved out of the White House.

9. I think this will backfire on the RNC and the corporate media
that is pushing this Reagan idolatry. It has reached past the point of good taste and entered the realm of the cynical. Reagan was not the great President that the image makers want you to believe and anyone who wasn't brain dead in the 80s knows this. What a pathetic attempt to cannonize a President who was stage managed by others who did the real work. He was barely competent and certainly not in the caliber of a Bill Clinton in executing his duties as President.

I don't think that this is going unnoticed by millions who are politically nuetral....I'll bet that many understand what this is- above all, a smarmy attempt to gain votes for the Republicans in the November elections...and I think there will be a backlash against this developing cult of personality manipulation by the RNC and their broadcast media water carriers.

Watching Wolf on CNN now....he is so obviously a partisan promoter of this new Reagan legacy...simply disgusting.

10. It's not over yet. The burial is yet to come.
Many celebrities will be at the funeral & the press will HAVE to cover that.

13. gee-dubya and $hrubco are trying to get as much mileage as possible....
I agree, Reagan's funerary arrangements have been blown way out of proportion. As an ex-president of the United States and especially as a LEGALLY ELECTED ex-president of the United States, he and his family are entitled to a certain amount of pomp and decorum. I, in no way deny his official state funeral. However, it's time to put the old horse out to pasture and MOVE ON!
