Voting for the other candidates basically means your voting 'Yes' on the recall

Even if we oppose the recall, and we should, we absolutely have to have a safety valve in case it passes. That's why Bustamante's running. I'd vote a big fat NO on the Repukkke recall, then vote Bustamante on the second part of the ballot.

It looks like selecting any other candidate is basically a yes vote for the recall, a vote for Gray Davis is a no vote for the recall.

It does matter who you vote for. The likelihood of getting 51% of Californians to vote no on the recall is slim. That's why uniting behind one candidate as the replacement is so important. If liberals split their vote between Bustamante, Huffington and Camejo; Arnold's chance of winning is increased.

Not to mention that if you respect democracy and respect that the Democratic candidate won in November; it is only ethical to replace Davis with the Democratic contender supported by the party.

I could understand why the person did it, it would make a flawed poll to have a Yes-No option on the poll, then list the candidates. I understood it perfectly. I know if the recall failed, you could vote for the other candidates. But if you vote to recall Gray Davis, you are doing it because you would want to vote for someone who you think is better.

This RW-financed coup-attempt should have us howling in the streets. Think of what's been done to the states with the most electoral votes:

Texas = Bush
Florida = Bush
New York = 9/11
California = Coup

Gray Davis isn't my kind of Democrat (lot progressive enough by a long shot), but he was fairly elected in a *legitimate* election.

California is in fiscal trouble due to multiple reasons, not the least of which is the lousy Bush economy. Most of the crap that hit the fan in California is NOT Davis's fault. He does not deserve this. Californians do not deserve this.

I will vote for the candidate most likely to deny any Republican the governor's office. If the election were held today, I wopuld vote for Bustamante. My vote is so recorded above.

However, if on Ocotber 7, another candidate -- Camejo, Arianna, Georgy or whoever -- is in a better position than Bustamante, I will vote for that candidate.

And I do believe it will be Bustamante but I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer for.

If/when Gray Davis prevails in this recall thing, and the vote tally for the 130+ people is a moot subject, will results be made public? I personally think of the second part of the ballot as being provisional on the first half passing, and wonder if it shouldn't be buried like it never even existed. Just curious, and thinking about 2006 gubernatorial election ramifications.

30. It depends how the polls look when Oct 7 rolls around. If Arnold is

hopelessly ahead, one has a "free" (but meaningless) vote for a candidate that one really likes - for me, this could be Arianna, or Camejo, or a Socialist. (This would be similar to voting for Nader in 2000 in a state that either Gore or Bush had obviously locked up.)

But if it looks close between Arnold and Bustamente, I'll probably vote for Cruz.
