George W. Bush is No Ronald Reagan. Time to Tell Some Truth.
OK, DU'ers.

Haven't you just about had enough?

The relentless comparisons made between this self-serving White House between the current occupant and President Reagan seem to be without end.

How much more crass can Georgie Bush and his handlers get in trying to convince Americans that these two men have so much in common?

"They both stood up for America when it wasn't popular to do so."

"They both were considered stubborn by the Washington 'elite'."

Blah, Blah, Blah.

Well, I lived through Ronald Reagan's governorship here in California and his Presidency and while I was no fan of his policies nor of the direction he took the country, I can say this:

Mr. Bush, we all knew Ronald Reagan.

Mr. Bush, you are no Ronald Reagan.

So, DU'ers help me here by weighing in with your comparisons of Bush and Reagan to help set this record straight.

I'll begin with one which I will post below.

Since the media seems to come to the DU more and more, perhaps they might stop here for a little truth on the lack of similarities between Ronald Reagan and George Bush.

2. Ronald Reagan Won Two Landslides. Georgie Was Selected.
Ronald Reagan won two landslides in the Presidential Contests of 1980 and 1984.

Reagan won overwhelming landslides in popular and electoral votes.

George W. Bush lost the 2000 election popular vote by nearly 600,000 votes.

George W. Bush lost the electoral vote and was selected by the Supreme Court of the United States who stopped the vote counting in Florida.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

4. Other than the fact they are both repubs...
...I don't see many similarities. RR was much more well-spoken, whereas Bush comes off sounding like an imbecile much of the time. RR seemed more sincere, too, although that may have been his acting ability at play. Bush always seems to have that sneaky smirk on his face. It looks like he's up to no good. RR had more charisma in this little finger than exists in the entire Bush extended family combined.

12. True, And Funny.
Reagan loved riding horses and Bush is indeed afraid of horses.

Some "Texan", huh?

All hat and no cattle.

6. Reagan was relaxed about playing
the role of president. Bush is not. He wants desperately to convince the nation/world to believe he is a tough guy. Bush is not a tough guy in any sense of the word. He reminds me of the spoiled brat that we all knew in high school, who wanted to bully other kids. It amazes me that anyone -- ANYONE -- can think this pup is fit to be commander in chief.

7. Ronald Reagan was no Ronald Reagan
He wasn't nearly as great as they are making him out to be.

Anyway, the obvious is that Reagan was "the great communicator" (:eyes:) , while Chimpy can't pronounce 50% of the words in the English language correctly.

8. Reagan acted WITH a chimp
and not AS one.

More seriously, Reagan was capable of change, like pulling out of Lebanon and rolling back tax cuts, instead of bullheadedly "staying the course" on EVERYTHING (not that he didn't stay with plenty of disasters).

11. They used to say that Ronald Reagan was a nice man who had mean policies.

Don't know if that's true but if it is Bush is different in that he is a mean man with mean policies.
