O'Reilly, Scheer, Reagan, AIDS...ay caramba.
http://www.robertscheer.com/

OK...what Scheer ACTUALLY SAID:

"For example, he made the terrible mistake of willfully ignoring the burgeoning AIDS epidemic at a time when action could have saved millions. Unlike many conservatives, however, he was not driven by homophobia. Instead, Reagan allowed AIDS to spread for the same reason he pointedly savaged programs to help the poor: He was genuinely convinced that government programs exacerbated problems – unless they catered to the needs of the businessmen he had come to revere."

On tonight's O'Reilly, he showed outrage that Scheer accused Reagan of "being responsible for AIDS" and "spreading AIDS"...and even O'Reilly's guest said (not a direct quote) that he waited too long before joining the fight against the disease.

Unfortunately for O'Reilly, it is NOT what Scheer SAID.

2. Probably true Reagan wasn't a phobe...

.. but had to cater to his phobe-base.

but would be hardpressed to sustain that argument giving Reagan did the 'no gays in the military' and also sat quietly by during the beginning of the AIDS crises.

Gotta love politicians.

3. It would have been funny if it weren't so sad
Three times he accused the media and/or Jesse Jackson of distorting Reagan's record....and all the while O'Really was distorting the words of Sheer, Jackson, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. What a fucking putz.

4. He also mentioned Martin Luther King...
...O'Reilly said it was OK for Reagan to have been "reluctant" to sign off on the MLK holiday because of "records which are STILL sealed" which label King as a "communist sympathizer."
