A bit of DU bashing re: Reagan on rec.arts.tv.
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 03:01 PM by bbernardini
We knew it was coming...in a thread titled "republicans eulogize reagan on c-span 2", somebody says about when Clinton dies:

"I certainly hope no conservatives celebrate his death the way liberal sickos are celebrating Reagan's (check out http://www.democraticunderground.com/ for examples)."

I politely pointed out that it was a small percentage, and that while most of us disagreed with Reagan's policies, we still felt bad that he died. I then suggested I could offer him a link to the Freeper discussion of Wellstone's death.

Come on over and join the conversation. :)

8. my issue wasn't with the typo or construction
but with the laughability of it.

it's like being called a liar by sean hannity. or a horndog by bill clinton. or forgetful by ronald reagan.

the very thought of freeper types calling anyone sick is a hoot.

7. Right, freepers would NEVER criticize the dead....
or politicize someone's death. Wouldn't happen, nope never, unh uh, not a chance, freepers=good, commies=bad.....
snip

"Wellstone was a communist, an extreme leftist Amnerica-hating commie who would do anything to destroy our nation. He started out poisoning the minds of college kids. He learned to be likeable to develop a personal style that helped him mask his disdain for America. He may have been kind to puppies and little old ladies. He may have had an endearing personality that caused others to say that they "liked" him or "respected" him.
His actions and his ideology emphasize that he was an evil man who tried to destroy our country and replace its institutions with government controlled mechanisms that his master, Stalin would have liked. Had his ilk taken over, those of us who read this would be living in gulags and a portion of reduced rations fed to puppies so his other commie friends could say, "Oooh, look how sensitive he is.""

4. Heck
Just post Skinner's links to Freeper threads about Wellstone.

Then point out the celebration of his death over at www.georgewbush.com.

5. You're right...there are some here who are sad he died....
because they think he and Nancy didn't suffer enough.

That is, IMHO, pretty sick.

6. i DONT feel bad reagan died, and not cause of his politics
this is so odd. the man was 93 and suffering alzheimer and totally gosh in a horrible place and the family had a decade of watching this in misery. i am not sad he died. sounds so odd to me for people to say they are sad he died. what they what him to continue in horror and pain. i am sad he had alzheimer for 10 years, sad he suffered for ten years, sad his family went thru that for ten years, but sad he is done with the pain. i dont get it. the man was old. lived longer, by far than the average person, where is the sadness that he died. rejoice he gets to go on. that is what the religious say when people die.

but i see no sadness in his passing, i see his passing as a blessing.
