Did the Daily Show bust open the Enron tapes story?
I had seen a few headlines for it but it hasn't gotten much attention. Then last night I saw the Daily Show and they played the tapes.

"Burn, Baby, Burn" by Ken Lay while watching the California wildfires, is one of the most disgusting things I had ever seen. I hope that since the Daily Show has covered it there is more national interest. I am going to tape the re-run tonight and show it to everyone I know.

So is this getting any coverage nationally?

3. CBS broke it last week.
I guess I have some degree of tunnel-vision, because I thought that nearly everybody had heard the tapes. But then I heard the shocked reaction that the TDS audience had when Jon played them.

5. CBS Evening News
has done at least of couple of stories on the tapes that I know of. The original tapes story, and a followup stating that the tapes have become part of the debate on *'s energy bill.

6. I wish more media would play those tapes
I'm so incredibly angry as a Californian that we lost a governor over the price gouging by those greedy bastards. Here we were screaming the whole time that we were being scammed and no one would listen. Well here's another prediction -- the bush administration had a hand in this as well, especially Cheney and his secret energy meetings. God I hope someone looks into this link before November.

8. I didn't hear that it was Ken Lay
I think Ken Lay was the one who called Grandma.

9. Once again the "fake news" show outdoes
the real ones. The look of stinking outrage on Stewart's face is all that keeps me sane some days. Like, hey ma, I aint crazy, somebody else gets it!

10. No, It Wasn't Lay
Those were two traders talking. I saw their names somewhere but the fact is they were nobodys who today are on some unemployment line somewhere. Their conversations were recorded to be a record of sales agreed to and at what times, so they were being recorded all the time. They probably had no conscious awarness that their phone calls were being taped and to be fair, I think this may be blown out of perportions more than just a little bit.
