Was Bush Booed at the D-Day Gathering of Dignitaries?
Did this happen? It certainly wasn't reported anywhere else if it did...

This was in my local paper today...

--------------------------------------------------------
Going by the body language and facial expressions of United States President George Bush during his European visit, he was homesick for his roses and ranch. And who could blame him? In Italy, he studiously avoided coming face-to-face with US flag-burning Iraq war protestors and then had to listen to a heavily couched dressing down from Pope John Paul II over the invasion.

And this after, allegedly, having been rapped over the knuckles by the Pontiff's aides for turning up late. Smile-watchers were disappointed on this occasion, although, to be fair, Bush might have been overwhelmed by the solemnity of the occasion.

Earlier in Paris, where his entente with French President Jacques Chirac was only superficially cordiale, the flag-burners were out in force shouting, "Bush, you are the terrorist" and waving banners describing Bush, Blair and Sharon as their "Axis of Evil". Not that the American President – who by his own admission doesn't watch television or read the newspapers – would have noticed, mind you, cocooned in the midst of stretched motorcades or his own private helicopters. But in Normandy, where a plethora of European royals and heads of state – who had been modestly bussed from their luncheon venue to Arromanches – were awaiting his arrival, there was no escaping the reality.

...As the neo-world emperor descended from his shiny limo with the lovely Laura – the last to arrive as befits the most powerful – queens and presidents gave him a standing ovation amid cheers… and boos. Yes, boos. Now that would never happen at Arlington or AIPAC! The greetings of the glitterati were not enough to elicit a smile from the president who sat throughout the ceremony stony-faced, without saying a word....

3. Hey, he got booed by the NASCAR crowd.
Unless they rounded up a bunch of Vichy french for his audience I'm sure he'd get booed in France too.

4. The protests in Europe are well know...
Remeber the staute of Bunnypants that was toppled in the UK. There were a lot of protestors in Italy and France. As far as the D-Day goes, this is the only news source I have read, but it is plausible...
