Please, Republicans, leave our currency alone!!!
I heard on the radio that the Republicans were going to introduce a bill to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with Ronald Reagan.

What happened to the dime idea?

Nevertheless, I wish they would leave our money alone. Heavens knows they plunder and waste enough of it. Now they want to paste their demigod all over it.

2. You're really not looking at the upside of this

We should seriously consider putting him on the $3 bill and in honor of his record print it with red ink instead of green.

6. Why don't they just call it the Reagan States of America
Might as well name everything after the old git.

You know what the worse part is? You and I will be picking up the tab for tremendous costs to honor the old mannequin, just like tax payers had to pick up the costs to create new signs for "Reagan" Washington Airport. My Congressman fought that tooth and nail to no avail.

7. Well when you think about he IS the best THEY'VE had
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 08:42 AM by linazelle
Actually, in comparison to other Repugs, in recent times, he was somewhat better. But then again, to say Reagan is the best really lowers the bar for excellence considerably.

Unfortunately, with THEM in power and the reality of Reagan's legacy quickly slipping down the memory hole, their plans to exalt him might just work. In the next generation or two, the unsuspecting will think he was a saint.

tone is advised.

10. Fine with me...
...Jackson was a murderous redneck (translation: "Indian fighter") from whom sprang The Trail of Tears. He and Reagan are interchangeable, in my opinion.

12. Sometimes you have to accept the warts
as with Jefferson, or Washington...

We would not be a great power (or something approaching a democracy) if it were not for Andrew Jackson.

Reagan on the other hand... did absolutely nothing.

This funeral is going to remind an already polarized electorate just why they dislike(d) Republicans.

Not only that, they are going to remind people what even a bad Republican president looked like next to *.

There will be no post-funeral bounce.

20. Though, respectfully so,...
...I must disagree with most every point in your post.

To me, Jackson was far more coarse and cruel than either Washington or Jefferson and such a comparison dishonors them. What do you feel was the lasting legacy of the Jackson Administration? And how does that balance against genocide?

What Reagan did was further tip things toward the mess we have today.

The Reagan funeral will kick-off one of the most nationalistic campaigns this country has seen. And I believe that Americans are apt to fall for it.

And through it all, don't be surprised if no one on the national stage for the Democratic Party so much as mentions the attacks on Clinton, or the Wellstone events and reactions.

11. And the beatification continues.
These bastards won't be happy until our nation's Capital is Reagan, D.C. I remember when Bob Barr was in congress, as part of some bullshit "Reagan Legacy" project he wanted to name something after Reagan in every county in the United States. I wrote him a letter informing him that I had named my penis Ronald Reagan, so he could scratch Fairfax County, Virginia off his list. I never did hear back from him.

15. It Is Truly Very Sad That Reagan Is All The Right Has To Crow About
They are in desperate straights emotionally and intellectually.

Certainly, Shrubbie has not helped their pride and self esteem.

13. Next thing you know
they will want a stamp issued to honor him right away even though by law the postal service has to wait a certain number of years after someone's death before a stamp can be issued.

18. maybe she was holding out for foldin' money
We should all prepare for so much of this crap it'll make our heads spin for the next 5 years. Soon, they'll pass a law that requires us to name our first born sons Ronnie.

I guess it means something to have a Republican finish two terms without having to resign for criminal activities. That alone constitutes 'greatness' to the Repigs.
