Kurds threaten to pull out

The main Kurdish political parties are threatening to pull out of Iraq's interim government unless a new United Nations Security Council resolution on Iraq endorses Kurdish autonomy.
Masoud Barzani of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Jalal Talabani of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan made the threat in a publicly-released letter to President Bush.


Anyway, it looks like more bad news for Bush and company.

1. thks for the post. Kurds remain a "silent" wild card in Iraq.

edit for clarification:

Kurds have been consistent with their insistence on autonomy, in the original Ba'athist regime, in Saddam's time, in the pre global war time and now, in the occupation. I believe they turned over Saddam to the US forces and I doubt if they will go quietly into a confederation that doesn't address their concerns.
