Anyone remember all that Repub support for Clinton's attempt to assasinate
Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 12:22 AM by soggy
bin Laden in '97? The repubs about had a seizure when Clinton tried to kill bin Laden... you'd have thought he was going after one of their own family members. Why is it with all the "republicans are tough on terror" and "9/11 was all Clinton's fault" propaganda out there that no one's been throwing that little politically embarrasing moment in time back in their faces? I've been waiting the last 3 years to hear some sort of apology along the lines of " we're all very sorry that we chose to support Osama bin Laden instead of Clinton back in 1997, and we're all great big douchebags."

3. ???
No I don't, but if you were alive in '97 then you'd remember the political shitstorm Clinton endured for going after bin Laden back then. It was at the height of the Lewinski story, and he was accused ad nauseum of "wagging the dog". Could it be that since then, we've seen the entire republican party "flip-flopping" their stance on the war on terror?

4. Trent Lott also supported our troops but didn't support the pres.
I'm paraphrasing here: " You can support the troops without supporting the president". Repubs can't have it two ways, can they?

5. Sorry I didn't recognize the event as
described in the original post.
It was a cruise missile attack....and I don't believe anyone was killed.
If I remember correctly the camp had been abandoned before the attack........

7. Don't forget Newt Gingrich the flip-flopper
who, in 1998, after our retaliatory Tomahawk missile attacks on Sudan and Afghanistan, said:

"The President did exactly the right thing, by doing this we're sending the signal that there are no sanctuaries for terrorists."

but on Sept 13, 2001, said:

"The lesson has to be that firing a few Tomahawks, dropping a few bombs is totally inadequate,..."
