Republican Survivor
Taking a page from the pop-culture playbook, Democrats are debuting their own online reality show this week: Republican Survivor. This animated version of the popular television series will lampoon GOP figures on the website of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. A trailer unveiled last week features President Bush stabbing himself in the foot, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay killing butterflies, and pundit Ann Coulter snagging a bug with a retractable tongue. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/issue/040607/whispers/7whisplead.htm

1. This is great news - Democrats need to be the party with a sense of humor!

The American people will respond well to bashing Bush with a sense of humor.

Hopefully this will spread like a virus.

The left needs to do more funny ads that get to the key issues that Bush has failed America on.

2. One suggestion I might make after watching the trailer
Is to use slightly different names than the actual names. It's often funnier that way - showing Dick Cheney and calling the contestant on the show "Dick Cranky" or something like that.

It also insulates you a little from the whiners who will complain about personal attacks, because they are making the connection to the real person instead of you explicitly using the exact name. More in line with parody.

I wonder who will be writing these episodes?

3. Nothing like being the party of "That was SO two years ago!"
Lame, out of date humor sure energizes the base...

4. It's better than other things I've seen them do!

The Democratic Party should dominate the pop-culture references and humor, but our party's Flash ads have been sad compared to some of the Republican ones. I'm not sure why?

We could use some of the Hollywood brains to help us become more "hip" and bring in more kids.

This Flash looks better than anything I've seen from our side yet, though.
