Who voted against the war?
I am trying to recall who in the House and Senate spoke out against this mess beforehand?

1. Be careful judging just on the vote
Bob Graham, if I recall, voted against the IWR because it didn't go far enough to empower the president to wage war against terrorists.

7. I have this part of his Oct. 10 statement saved in my notes:
Edited on Mon May-31-04 07:47 PM by jpgray
"Madam President, the resolution that I had hoped we would pass would contain what the President has asked for, relative to the use of force against Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq – and more. It also should provide the President all necessary authorities to use force against all international terrorists groups who will probably strike the United States as the regime of Saddam Hussein crumbles."

and also

"But Madam President, tonight I have to vote no on this resolution. The reason is that this resolution is too timid. It is too limited. It is too weak. This resolution fails to recognize the new reality of the era of terrorism."

"And that reality is that war abroad will, without assertive security action, increase the prospects of terrorist attacks here at home. In fact, war on Iraq alone leaves Americans more vulnerable to the threat that is facing us today – those international terrorist organizations that have the capability to inflict upon us a repeat of the tragedy of September 11."

4. technically you are correct - but both houses voted on a resolution
that authorized the war as a vague nod to constitutional process.

11. Dennis Kucinich.
He also voted against the patriot act.

And he worked hard to get others in the house to join him.

13. Kerry voted yes!
Yep... John Kerry voted yes to ending Saddam's regime. He also voted yes to having the UN totally involved - as * promised he would do. Note: The UN decided not to get involved.

Kerry said that * lied to him!! Can you imagine that * would lie to a US Senator? There oughtta be a law, yes?

So what are some of the excuses for the rest of the Congress voting yes? Well, the prevalent one is that Intellignce briefings convinced the members that Iraq was an imminent threat. Yep, the CIA, et al, told our reps that Iraq was due to attack us any day now. Even * inferred as much in the State of the Union, did he not?

So.... what we had was a pack of lies being spread like butter on toast. It must have been terribly hard to resist, yet many brave Dems did, and IIRC, no Republicans had the nerve or the balls to resist. None.

It has been said that Kerry's yes vote was a smart political move. By voting yes, Kerry was able to take the anti-war knife away from Rove. A knife that would have used to cut Kerry clean out of the race. But now Kerry can say he supported the President because he trusted him to do what he said he would do, but the President lied and lied, and look where it got us!

14. Which begs the next question
if Bush lied to go to war and the lie is recognized as such, why isn't he being impeached?

15. Good question: why not impeached
The short answer is: Diebold. Ya see, in the last two elections Diebold machines counted the votes just the way their machines were programmed. Something like one for Dems, two for Pukes.

So what we have now is a Republican run Congress. A Congress that will not even begin impeachment proceedings.

Throw in the anthrax mailings to several Dem Congress Critters and what we have is a threatened and coerced body of representatives who are hopefully just biding their time, waiting.

Some feel that the CIA, et al, are covertly disassembaling the regime from the inside out. Let's hope they are correct.
