Just a little update. Had a wonderful phone chat with one of the MFSO (Military Families Speak Out) founders today. We're a 'go' with doing a benefit for the organization with our opening performance and (hopefully) Nancy and Charles will atttend.
If you're in the NYC area and belong to or know of organizations that might be interested, feel free to pass on this press release on or contact me through PM or email (below) and I will follow-up.
I am also preparing a "Resources for Activism" package which will be distributed at all performances. I'll be listing all the usual suspects (DU, Buzzflash, truthout, etc.) but am especially interested in local peace, democratic, GBLT, and other links, phone#s, etc.
Thanks in advance!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 1, 2004
THE QUESTION W REVUE ANNOUNCES CAST AND PERFORMANCE DATES OPENING PERFORMANCE TO BENEFIT “MILITARY FAMILIES SPEAK OUT”
We have found the WMDs (Words of Mockery and Derision) and will unleash them in July!
THE QUESTION W REVUE, an evening of political cabaret, will begin performances at NYC’s legendary Duplex Cabaret Theatre on July 12th with a special benefit performance for Military Families Speak Out (www.mfso.org), a support organization for military personnel and their families.
THE QUESTION W REVUE will take satirical shots at the lies of the Bush administration and the failings of the ‘liberal’ media to expose them, the wrongs of the religious right and many other targets with a fast-paced set of original songs, political parodies, sketches and rants.
THE QUESTION W REVUE features an extraordinary ensemble of singing actors (JOAN CROWE, ROB LANGEDER, SUE MATSUKI, and MILES PHILLIPS) with extensive and acclaimed resumes in theater, cabaret, concerts and recordings. Musical direction and arrangements are by JOHN BOWEN. The production is directed by JAY ROGERS.
Original songs were written by BROOKS COWAN (Music) and JEFF MATSON (Lyrics). Original song parodies and sketches were written by Mr. Matson with additional special material from internet authors “The Plaid Adder” and “Bob Boudelang.”
Musical highlights of the production include a stirring opening number (“The Question W Song”); a tribute to our unique Attorney General (“John!”); a review of the Bush family tree (“The Spawn of Barbara”); a searing indictment of the Iraq war (“A Mother’s Lament”); and a frank assessment of the mood of post-9/11 America (“The Fear Goes On”) among many others.
The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located at 61 Christopher Street (at 7th Avenue) in the heart of Greenwich Village. For reservations call 212-255-5438. There is a $20 cover charge and a two-drink minimum.
Performance schedule: Opening Performance (benefit for Military Families Speak Out) Monday July12th @ 9:30 Tuesdays 7/13, 7/20 @ 7pm Wednesday 7/21 @ 7pm Tuesdays 8/17, 8/24 @ 9:30pm Wednesdays 8/18, 8/25 @ 9:30pm Additional performances TBA.
