Do you think Scrub is really Òborn-againÓ?
How can any professed Christian do the things to so many people in this world as this person has? He seems so proud of his record of death and destruction.

3. That's how "born again" works
It's not what you do, it's what you believe.

5. I think he simply substituted one "crutch" for another....
(drinking as an excuse for his misdeeds to using "religion" as an excuse for his misdeeds).

And, yes, I'm not convinced he ever stopped drinking, but I do think he has conveniently latched onto religion as a means to HIS end....Does he believe in what he spews? Yes, probably. He never did think for himself, after all, now did he?

13. Right, and his religion is a do-it-yourself bunch
of fundie wingnuts, first in Texas and later in the White House in the person of Timothy LaHaye. These people are extremely poor scholars and even worse theologians. They're cafeteria style bible followers, picking and choosing catch phrases in the bible which feel comfy for their own set of prejudices. They also feel that Paul, not Christ, defined the way to enter heaven. Belief alone will suffice, without all that touchy feely love your neighbor and give all you have to the poor and follow me stuff. No need for rich west Texas men to give up their creature comforts or respect their lesser fellow citizens. Just have faith, brother, and the kingdom of heaven is yours.

To the extent that Bush has found this rich man's dodge of giving lip service while hoarding wealth that Christ would never approved of, I do believe he is sincere.

However, Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot were also sincere in their beliefs, and just as rigid.

Give me a muddler who is never sure he's doing the right thing any old day. You can keep your charisma and moral clarity, thanks, especially when they lead to blindly following the same nonworking course no matter what.

16. Yup... his brand isn't religion, or at least not Christianity
Edited on Mon May-31-04 05:09 PM by hlthe2b
in my opinion, but it provides cover for his true (selfish, biggoted, mainipulative) "values" and acceptance by a large core of Americans. It also provides him a "cook-book" approach that prevents his having to think for himself. At the same time, it fulfills his needs-- the inner frat boy definitely needs to be accepted and be seen as superior to others (non-believers)and be supported in a way that can readily be manipulated towards his own ends.

7. Well...he has the intellect of an infant, seems to have trouble with
solid foods (Gerber Strained Pretzels, anyone?), and he can't ride a two-wheeler.
He may be "born again" at that!

8. I think he thinks he is.
But he's also extremely simpleminded, in the sense of black-and-white, good-and-evil thinking -- which makes him the perfect "leader" for the equally simpleminded. Real Christians follow, yet think; CINOs only follow.

Let's put it this way: If somebody else had gotten to him before Billy Graham did, and told him that the only path to salvation was through the Church of RuPaul, Junior would be reapplying his lipstick and straightening the seams in his nylons as we speak.

He will say what he's told like a good dumb-ass.

Aside from that nasty remark it pains me that he uses GOD for gain.
He is a member of SKULL&BONES they worship the devil that should clear it up. For those who think this(S&B) is some RAH-RAH collage bullshit they are xtreamly uninformed this cult has been around since the early 30s THE POWER ELITE Control 2/3 of the worlds economy. They will use-kill whoever-whatever they have to to stay on top.
