Celebrating Militarism
I wish Memorial Day were a day of remembrance, not a day to celebrate the military. There's a big difference between expressing sorrow for the fallen, and endorsing silly wars.

May they rest in peace. May their sacrifice not be exploited by the war mongers among us.

1. I thought it was about celebrating remembrance.
Am I wrong? Or is it both?

3. Jets in Formation
Military jets flew in formation over New York today. Not only is this inappropriate for the occasion, but it made me think about September 11th, when the Air Force did nothing to protect us.

5. Notice the formation
It's symbolic of a missing soldier, asymmetrical with one plane missing on one side.

7. Five Jets
The formation today was five jets in a symmetrical formation. I thought about the missing pilot formation, but this wasn't it. The display today was just the military showing off. It annoyed me.

2. I look at it as a day of remembrance and thanks
I put my flag out this morning....for all the folks who have paid the price in this misguided adventure in the middle east.

I may go out and get another pole and hang my big teal peace flag as well...

I don't want to think that the US Flag and the peace flag cannot fly together.
