Newsday: 'Eyeing Bush use of Air Force One"
Edited on Mon May-31-04 09:50 AM by Bush_Eats_Beef
WASHINGTON - President George W. Bush is using Air Force One for re-election travel more heavily than any predecessor, wringing maximum political mileage from a perk of office paid for by taxpayers.

While Democratic rival John Kerry charters a plane to roam the country, Bush often travels at no cost to his campaign simply by declaring a trip "official" travel rather than "political."

Bush has logged more than 68,000 miles this year on Air Force One. With rare exceptions he confines his travels to the more than a dozen states he and Kerry are fighting hardest for and to places where he is raising campaign money.

An Associated Press tally shows Bush has made at least 114 trips in the 17 months since January 2003. Clinton flew Air Force One on 123 domestic trips between January 1995 and mid-October 1996, a period of 22 months. It was a record for re-election-related travel aboard the aircraft, according to the Center for Public Integrity.

1. And this surprises you....?
He's a corporate whore...they love to live at the people's expense.
He knows that NOBODY will challenge his actions...there are not
outcries, just some lame-ass articles that are quickly forgotten.

Think the sheeple really give a damn...? They're too busy staying
financially alive.

2. No, not at all...
...I just get amazed sometimes when the facts of Bush's presidency are published and...to paraphrase what you said...the sheeple don't give a damn. It always raises the question "What would he have to do before the people DID give a damn?" Obviously, that's a question that I hope remains unanswered.

3. What would he have to do....?
Edited on Mon May-31-04 10:28 AM by kalian
He can do ANYTHING and the sheeple will abide. The people are so
complacent and so docile its not even funny. Those few that are
angered, are in the minority and feel insecure. Remember...when
PA II kicks in...the most outspoken will be the first to "disappear".
Its usually how it happens when an authoritarian regime
establishes itself.

The road has been chosen for this country...the only thing that we
can do is sit tight, lay low and decide when we take back our
country. Its much more prudent to "wait and see" than come out and
display your disgust. At this point...there isn't anything that we
can do.

7. It's astounding and horrifying
how this rich scumbag bought people off with his poopy little tax cut - then he uses their money - oh, and incidentally that's how he got rich in the first place, using others' money and some public funds, too - to fly around like Supreme King Boss Man, wining and dining people who can afford to drop a couple grand on him in a single evening. Then he throws the rest of the people's money into a giant hole of death and destruction that he opened up in the first place. Might as well stand there on television and light a massive pile of bills on fire, for all most people seem to care.
