OMG - They handed out excuses for Sadr's death, but he's not dead
yet.

This is un-freaking-believable:

The cease-fire reached in Najaf on Thursday did not require Mr. Sadr to disband his militia or to submit to an arrest warrant that an Iraqi judge had issued in connection with the killing in April of Abdul Majid al-Khoei, an American-backed cleric who had returned from exile to Najaf.

Meanwhile on Sunday, people in the streets of Najaf were handed mysterious fliers with Mr. Sadr's picture that said "Moktada was followed by the Iraqi police for his ties to the slaying of Khoei, and due to violent actions he was killed during an attempt to arrest him."

Another flier had a photo of Iraqi policemen and the words "The Justice Ministry tried to arrest Mr. Sadr, but he and his followers resisted fiercely, which drove the Iraqi police to defend themselves."

The fliers appeared to have been made by Iraq's Justice Ministry or its allies to be handed out in case Iraqi policemen killed Mr. Sadr. Somehow, they were distributed prematurely. There were no reports of Mr. Sadr's death.

4. Everyone over there is stark raving mad. Who was it that had the funny
line about 'reports of my death have been premature'?

So the declared a truce and then made up fliers for when they killed the guy? 'In case' the Iraqi police killed him? And golly, I wonder who would put the Iraqi police up to that?

Meanwhile some unknown person or persons tries to shoot Sadr al-Din al-Kubanchi, a prominent cleric linked to the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and Sadr's boys catch him but don't turn him over, so now they're saying he's (Sadr)is behind it? This sounds so damn convoluted and nuts you need a program to keep up with it.

What a way to gain the trust of the Iraqi people.

5. OOPS!
gee, I guess THAT plan went awry

Obviously they had a plan to bump him off that they thought was gonna work.

These guys are so incompetent, it would be comical if it weren't so tragic.

9. Please God, just tell me "they" weren't this stupid!
Dead before he is dead?? Propaganda gone wild. I really don't feel well, at all. Just sent off my right wing, Christian fundamentalist in-laws. It is a lesson in humility to try and be good and keep one's mouth shut.

And now this!!!

12. I still can't get over this yet this morning
Talk about the Mayberry Machiavellis!

I also still don't know who "they" are -- was this set up by Bremer, CIA, Iraqi Police (on their own? doubtful IMO)? It's bizarre.

Nor have I even figured out the premature and surprising "choice" of Allawi, either.

Things over there are getting more and more bizarre. Or should I say surreal?

Or maybe I'm at fault here, trying to actually make sense of things, insisting as I do on some semblance of reality at this late stage in our Orwellian experince.

13. Chemical Ali's death then capture, Zarqawi's "didn't take" amputation,
Saddam........how many times did we kill him before we captured him?

I guess they decided to jump the gun and go ahead and declare alSadr dead and avoid the rush. Geez talk about pre-emption. :eyes:

14. Even Funnier
He is suppossedly wanted for killing a rival cleric. Guess who really killed him. Yep, Uncle Sam. We murdered the guy in a Byzntine plot and used the same kind of Saddam loyalist thugs that killed Al-Sadr's father. Moqtadr's guys actually tried to stop it but the US officers nearby were wise to what was happening and refused to help. Brand new $100 bills fell from the clothing of the assassins.

15. The incompetence is everywhere. There is no doubt that the Saddam
was really captured by the Kurds or someone other than the US military. The US military was merely told where Saddam was being held prisoner. Just like the Jessica Lynch episode. But the military always claims credit and Bush, sitting behind his desk, is called a 'hero.'
