Now even Margaret Carlson is dissing MoveOn.org
Called us a bunch of "Naderites." My husband and I are both members and we're NOT Naderites.

And between the lot of them -- esp. Carlson and Hunt denigrating Gore's speech and trying to make him look half- or more insane -- I may not watch Capital Gang any more. I'm absolutely HOPPING MAD.

We can't let them do this to us, this demonizing any display of passion or energy on the Left. I am SO steamed.

How many million members does MoveOn have by now, anyway?

I'm also really, really sick of ALL the Washington punditry being so totally out of touch with the real world "out here" and what our preferences and sentiments are. Truly sick of it. (I'm convinced that had Howard Dean been allowed to continue his candidacy, it would've made a world of difference in how Washington perceived us Dem and other Leftwing voters. They'd have had a wake up call like none other, and long, long overdue.)

GAWD I'm mad.

Anybody got an email address for Ms. Carlson? I've got a few words I'd like to share with her know-it-all-ness.

2. Naderites my ass
MoveOn is not even supporting Nader, and want * out badly. As some pundit said last year, MoveOn has become the Democratic Party's Christian Coalition

That's pretty far from a Naderite. I feel a letter coming on.....

7. Gee, could this be why the Left is "muted"?
Yup, just a bunch of Naderites. Al Gore raised his voice. Howard Dean screamed. They're all nuts. Buncha crazy screamers. No need to listen to anyone in this group.

Gee, the Left sure is muted.

Or maybe it's because none of these garbanzos listen? I can tell they're all just whomper-jawed that Lil George's excellent imperialistic oil grab didn't work out quite the way they thought it would. Why didn't anyone tell them that war might not be the answer?

13. Egggsackly
And I'm fucking sick of it.

As I said, we've GOT to not let them get away with this. After this little episode tonight, a sort of "straw that broke the camel's back" thing for me, I'm ready for a mass uprising -- by which I mean massive protests in the streets. I'm TIRED of being invisible to these fuckers. (And I'm sorry to keep bringing Dean into it, but that's one of the things I loved about him: no longer were my thoughts, feelings, attitudes, beliefs marginalized with Dean: I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK.) I'm MAD AS HELL AND NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.

Now, anyone got that email link to Carlson?

9. The Republican party has literally dozens of media outlets...
Edited on Sat May-29-04 06:53 PM by Q
...think tanks, magazines, radio / television stations and public relations firms ready to disseminate their TALKING POINTS at a minutes notice. The mainstream media and talking head pundits rarely mention them...probably because they're on the payroll.

- Yet they begrudge any effort on the left to create media outlets to spread the Democratic message. It's as if they think Democrats don't have a right to use mass communications that may interfere with their MONOPOLY.

- In fact...the RNC/ Bush* Smear Machine Talking Point Meme that Gore was 'insane' comes from the very media monopoly that pays these dumbass talking heads to spew this garbage.

10. Any talk show host with decency should refuse to have on any
Any talk show host with decency should refuse to have on any pundit who participated in the "Gore is insane" bunk.

Jon Stewart had on John Podhoretz a couple of months ago to promote his pro-Bush book.

On Thursday, Jon Podhoretz wrote in the NY Post that "Al Gore is insane."

Jon Stewart should never have Jon Podhoretz on, again. Nor should any tv host with decency have Podhoretz on.

Podhoretz is a liar who doesn't deserve to have any more of his books promoted.

12. Carlson's braying mockery is pale and feeble...
when you listen to the eloquence, elegance, reasoning, support, and delivery of Big Al's opus, truly one of the most well put-together orations I have heard in many a year IF ever.

That was Patrick Henry speechifying.

That was as scathing an indictment of these Bush bastards as I have heard and truly Al's rhetoric soared. These puling, immoral baboons cannot address the incredible truth of Al's speech so they revert to doing what monkeys do ---throwing shit.

14. It was magnificent oratory, absolutely. Stunning.
(I wonder if he wrote it?)

And it's bad enough that they're focusing on style not substance -- and style just for those few seconds at that. But to characterize Gore, and all those to whom he was speaking, in the way that they're doing is criminal, IMO. (And I've never been that big a Gore fan!!)

I'm still steamed nearly out of my mind.

18. gore's speech reminded me more of w. j. bryant's "cross of gold" speech
listening to gore was both sad and exhilarating. sad because one realizes this man will not be president of the US; exhilarating because it was so profoundly on target.

al gore knows more and understands more about america than any politician in my lifetime.

20. Yes, the spoken truth is tremendously exhilerating
It serves to remind we're not crazy after all, that what we see, perceive, know is real and the rest of it is Orwellian delusion.

And it's all the better when couched in such eloquence.

17. This is why we can't let the criticism of who we are define us.
I stopped believing, Carlson, Hunt and his wife Judy Woodruff were on the left a long time ago. They are just shills put in by the unliberal media to appear as if both sides are being presented. I don't care if they hate the way we scream, protest or whom we support. They are not our keepers nor do they speak for us. One of these days we will get a responsible and journalistic media back and these brown nosers of whomever happens to be in power will pass into history without anyone remembering who they were. This is how little and unimportant their contribution to society has been.

on Capital Gang are worn out and should retire and give the show to some real journalists!
