Does Yahoo make a habit of changing their news stories?
Edited on Sat May-29-04 06:27 PM by Kadie
I posted a thread this morning in LBN.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=590270&mesg_id=590270

This was the title of the article:
Bush Says U.S. Must Persevere in Iraq, Evokes WWII

now they have changed the link to;
Bush Hails Veterans, Calls WWII 'Greatest Mission'

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=1&u=/nm/20040529/pl_nm/bush_memorial_dc

you can go to these links to get the original story:
http://in.news.yahoo.com/040529/137/2ddo9.html
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040529/us_nm/bush_memorial_dc_7

Do they do this often? It doesn't do much good to bookmark a link if they are going to keep changing their stories.

2. Man, that doesn't seem right.
You would think they would post a new story under a new link. No wonder keeping up with the news is so confusing, you think you read one thing and go back to check and they have changed the story.

4. They do updates as the story evolves but keep the same...
...link. You have to be sure and post the timestamp for the article so the reader will know if the article has changed.

5. Well, they changed the article all right
went from an article about his morning radio address, to later in the day when he was talking to WWII vets.

Two completely different stories. Had to do a search to find new links to the original story.

7. Gads! That is a different deal altogether. It might be some...
...sort of software issue though, but it still is a lousy way of doing things.

3. yes, they do
I've been watching the news closely - ever since the war began in Afghanistan - and I feel qualified to say that, yes, they do. I've
seen it happen time and time again.

6. I am going to keep a closer eye on them.
I knew they did updates, but changing the entire story just doesn't seem right.
