1. He was just talkin about those who "put on the uniform" of the army,
navy, etc. I guess he thinks that is all it takes. Hell, HE put on the uniform, guess that makes him a Veteran, too.

2. And just to keep him safe...
just to keep him away from the public who love him, so that he can have another day to waste our polluted air, is costing MILLIONS of dollars.

Has any other "President" ever needed this sort of fascist bodyguard to stay alive in public?

What have we become?

What have we become?

3. Ugh! I thought so, too.
Honestly, I really do TRY to give him just a tiny bit of respect as the president, but everything about him drives me crazy.

His speaking style - those pregnant pauses and looks around the audience - seeing nothing, connecting with nothing. Just vacant eyes.

His walk - how he holds his arms way out from his sides, again with the dopey look on his face

What he says - useless, meaningless trite phrases strung together in a hopeless attempt at stirring emotion.

I could go on and on . . .

4. His words say nothing

I have never heard a person say hundreds of words and they don't really say anything.

I think it is because he doesn't really mean a WORD that comes out of his mouth. He has no compassion and no passion. He is just like a puppet and he is meaningless.

President's Discusses Memorial Day in Weekly Radio Address
Radio Address by the President to the Nation

Audio

-snips-

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Monday is Memorial Day and all across America this weekend, people are remembering those who fought for freedom and who gave their lives in service to their country.

Here in the Nation's Capital, Saturday has a special significance as we dedicate the World War II Memorial in the presence of thousands of veterans of that conflict. When it mattered most, an entire generation of Americans stepped forward to fight evil and show the finest qualities of our nation, and of humanity.

The World War II Memorial will stand forever as a tribute to the generation that fought that war, and to the more than 400,000 Americans who gave their lives. Because of their sacrifice, tyrants fell; fascism and Nazism were vanquished; and freedom prevailed.

Today, freedom faces new enemies, and a new generation of Americans has stepped forward to defeat them. Since the hour this nation was attacked on September the 11th, 2001, we have seen the character of the men and women who wear our country's uniform. In places like Kabul and Kandahar, Mosul and Baghdad, we have seen their decency and brave spirit. And because of their fierce courage, America is safer. And two terror regimes are gone forever, and more than 50 million souls now live in freedom.

Our mission continues, and we will see it through to victory. We have a strategy to defeat our terrorist enemy, and a plan to help establish lasting freedom in Iraq. The stakes are high, and they are clear. The enemy seeks to establish a new haven for terror and violence at the heart of the Middle East. They seek to force free nations to retreat into isolation and fear, yet we will persevere, and defeat this enemy, and hold this hard-won ground for the realm of liberty.

10. I had read on an earlier thread that John Kerry was
to be interviewed at 3 pm EDT on MSNBC and around 3:10, I noticed the time and flipped on the tube. When what to my wondering eyes should appear but AWOL himself masquerading as a "War President," (when he only knows how to start and incite them) dedicating the WWII memorial, as if he has a clue.

He said something like, "and this memorial will stand just as long as our great country will stand." It felt like yet another "Bring it on," moment. I thought, "what has his so called god been telling him now. . .?" I turned it off.

Talk about an invitation for an attack. Sheesh.

Anybody know anything about the alleged Kerry interview. . .?

He looks like a true deposed dictator, enjoying his sun-splashed retirement. It's funny, watching him next to cool-as-a-cucumber-Clinton.

Clinton didn't speak... I don't think he's going to. It was nice when Bob Dole thanked Clinton for helping to raise funds when the memorial was looking doubtful.

Found this photo... no sunglasses on King Bush I, but you get the picture...

nazi-triumphial WAR tone to the monument...it is not and never will be a monument to those who sacrificed...it is an unabashed monument to WAR...that WAR is good...that WAR triumphs all...

and the AWOL shrub up on the stage with this very Austrian-German WAR monument (not an American Monument in taste or design) was frighteningly hitler-esque.....

my dad piloted a 'flying fortress' in WWII, and he would have been HORRIFIED at this monument to WAR....dad never thought any WAR was 'worth it' or 'fought for freedom'.....dad was college-educated and well-read on WWII and other conflicts....he died in 2002...dad knew more than most are willing to admit...the TRUTH is that hitler lost WWII by not listening to his generals...that American troops had little to do with hitler's defeat....that Americans were duped into believing that they were defending America...that America's belated entry to WWII had little to do with hitler's defeat....

it's too bad that a 'few' of the old WWII vets are able to create such a permanent insanity on the National Mall to 'pat themselves on their own backs'....while those WWII Vets who think WAR IS WRONG are NOT interviewed on TV and no media will give them air time...

link to yahoo photos...way down the page, on the left hand side is a link to the daily sickening PR photos of bush*, most paid for by OUR taxes and brought to you by the White House Public Relations Department (a HUGE group of people paid for with our taxes to guarantee a daily photo op for bush* and promulagate a web page full of propaganda that would make goebbels proud)....

37. bush* made a LOT of comparisons to Iraq...(link to text)
Edited on Sat May-29-04 05:32 PM by amen1234

although you are correct that he never said 'Iraq'...the entire speech was peppered with comparisons to his IRAQ STUPID WAR...and shameless comparisons...embarassing for all the REAL soldiers sitting before him (and why the hell he demanded that they STAND UP...that was very unkind and very insensitive to their age and condition)....

here's just a very -snips- showing bush* comparisons to his GREAT STUPID IRAQ WAR....

--------------------------------

In the history books, the Second World War can appear as a series of crises and conflicts, following an inevitable course -- from Pearl Harbor to the Coast of Normandy to the deck of the Missouri. Yet, on the day the war began, and on many hard days that followed, the outcome was far from certain.

There was a time, in the years before the war, when many earnest and educated people believed that democracy was finished. Men who considered themselves learned and civilized came to believe that free institutions must give way to the severe doctrines and stern discipline of a regimented society. Ideas first whispered in the secret councils of a remote empire, or shouted in the beer halls of Munich, became mass movements. And those movements became armies. And those armies moved mercilessly forward -- until the world saw Hitler strutting in Paris, and U.S. Navy ships burning in their own port. Across the world, from a hiding place in Holland to prison camps of Luzon, the captives awaited their liberators.

As we defended our ideals, we began to see that America is stronger when those ideals are fully implemented.

And all these vast movements of men and armor were directed by one man who could not walk on his own strength. President Roosevelt brought his own advantages to the job. His resolve was stronger than the will of any dictator. His belief in democracy was absolute. He possessed a daring that kept the enemy guessing. He spoke to Americans with an optimism that lightened their task.

They faced the most extreme danger, which took some and spared others, for reasons only known to God. And wherever they advanced or touched ground, they are remembered for their goodness and their decency.

We started hugging each other, crying and screaming, 'God sent angels down to pick us up out of this hell place.'"

....as many veterans now remember it. It is a picture, he wrote, "of tired and dirty soldiers, who are alive and don't want to die....and of laughter, too, and anger, and wine, and lovely flowers

And women who watched the train leave, and the years pass, can still see the handsome face of their young sweetheart.

They saved our country, and thereby saved the liberty of mankind.
