Shows if the election were held today, Kerry would win, 255 to 227. Guess they can't polish their turds well enough this time.

On that map they have Michigan, Oregon and NM as toss ups. They're leaning to Kerry.

They also have AZ and Nev. as Bush leans and that's bullshit. They're leaning Kerry now as is FL.

When you go to the link provided, you see this:

Current status:
Bush 221
Kerry 198

With Tossups:
Kerry 255
Bush 227

So. based on the site and shawn703's statement, the site shows that if the election were held today, Kerry would only win by the figures quoted by shawn703 only if the toss-ups are added.

Irrelevant anyway. Zogby shows a Kerry electoral landslide.

5. Illinois is shown as a 'safe' Dem state
I'm not so sure about that. It's certainly strong leaning, but I wouldn't put it in the 'safe' category.

6. Look again. IL looks like it leans to me.

There are four different shades of red on the map. It's difficult to distinguish between them, but MA looks like a different shade of red to me than NY, which would make IL leaning.

Edited for clarity.

7. It seems every
electoral prediction site is run by those who lean rethug yet EVERY one of them are predicting a Kerry win. 255 is not enough to win, but I think NM and Oregon and Michigan will go Democratic again giving him 284 EV's. The latest polls I've seen also have Arizona, Arkansas, and Florida, and even Missouri as tossups. It also looks like chimp's states have a LOT more lightly shaded ones which could present excellent opportunities for Democratic pickups.

9. Whacky monitors!
You're right, of course. :) I should have looked at the data column below the colored map. The was solidly convinced about us being 'strong' until a poll in March. One thing with our 'trends' that I've heard discussed is the fact that our gubernatorial race is completely separate from our presidential race.

Our Democratic governor elected 2 years ago is now really starting to piss off some people tax-wise--raising taxes on big business. We have some major global companies in the state that are likely doubling their efforts to regain the power and reselect Bush while setting up the Gov. Blagojevich (sp) for a defeat in 2 years.
