Chalabi refuses to turn over "secret" Saddam papers to Bush......
After the invasion, Ahmed Chalabi beat the US to Saddam's secret papers. It has been reported on several newsfronts that Chalabi refuses to turn over these papers. The US would like very much to know what is in them.

It appears, from this untrained eye, that Mr Chalabi is using these papers as a negotiating tool with Bush and the CIA. No doubt, that is what they were looking for in their raid on Mr Chalabi's home last week. But Chalabi must have had them at a different location?

What is in those papers? Mr Chalabi feels that he will be protected by his US sources as long as he has possession of them. If they disappear, then so may Mr Chalabi...

3. I'm sure Saddam recorded all the dirty dealings with the US
And if Chalabi hides them, or copies them, and releases them to the world it would probably be quite embarrassing.

That may be a reason why they haven't touched him, yet.

6. Saddam's regime was notoriously shy of documentation
They didn't keep official records - Baghdad was been awash in forged documents since the invasion, and every few months some smoking gun regarding WMD or Al Qaeda or something surfaces, and gets play in the media for a few days until someone shoots it down as fake and we all wait for the next document to surface.

Chalabi and other pro-Bush stooges have foisted all kinds of forged documents to gain themselves favor with the occupation - now it sounds like he's threatening to embarrass Bush with something new.

The man's a championship liar - I say Cheney should should break out the flyrod and Bush should run with Chalabi in '04.

7. Do you have a link to this?
Is it recent or older info? I know he wouldn't release it before the raid but if this is new it's even more important.

8. Whatever info is in these papers would probably make Cheney's....
energy documents look trivial in comparison? I think the whole "Iranian spy" story is planted to discredit Chalabi because he refuses to turn over those documents. The US intelligence believes there may be info in these papers pinpointing locations of WMDs....supposedly... ?????
