DRAFT !!!!!!!!!!! Important for everybody to read
Pending Draft Legislation Targeted for Spring 2005
The Draft will Start in June 2005

There is pending legislation in the House and Senate (twin bills: S 89 and HR 163) which will time the program's initiation so the draft can begin at early as Spring 2005 -- just after the 2004 presidential election. The administration is quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public's attention is on the elections, so our action on this is needed immediately.

VERY VERY IMPORTAND TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!

13. When the bills were originally introduced, the idea was that the GOP....
...would NEVER go for the military draft, especially one that included women.

IMHO, that little plan backfired. The NeoCons are pushing this one hard.

12. And that is the point of the Democrats who
Edited on Fri May-28-04 11:02 AM by Dhalgren
promote this bill. Wake people up! This isn't some sort of football game you get to watch and then go to bed! This is fucking naked agression being committed in our name! If you don't want your kids involved then put a stop to this criminal insanity! I have two draft age kids, myself, and I will move heaven and earth to keep them out of this murder for hire, but I am for the draft! If white-bread, middle Amerika wants this war, let them fight it themselves!

10. Why are two Democrats pushing this?
Are they simply trying to bring this to a head? There's no doubt the Army's running out of troops. Our MP company just returned from Iraq and their already on notice to redeploy back in two years. You can imagine how many people are looking forward to seperating/retiring from this unit.

15. They proposed these bills before the war
It was a way to bring home to the sheeples that it affects everyone, rich, middle class, men and women, college or not, not just the lower classes and minorities who make up the majority of the volunteer military.

16. What...
as if Democrats can't be for war?

Democrats want it so that the rich kids will have the chance to fight.

Republicans want it so that America can keep going down the road we've been going for a while.

Either way you go, we're gettng to the same destination. One path goes a little slower, with some diplomacy. The other, just runs over everything in it's path.

If we get a draft, the private corporation armies will take longer to develop. We won't need them right away. If we don't get the draft, the corporations will outsource all the jobs quicker, leaving the military/jobs that supply the military as the only jobs left. Then if you're really skilled, you'll be paid by a corporation to go around and laugh at any international laws that might still exist, while you're killing for one of the 5 remaining multi-nationals left.

22. A quote from Congressman Rangel ...
Rangel: 'For those who say the poor fight better, I say give the rich a chance.'

Wednesday, January 8, 2003 Posted: 4:28 AM EST (0928 GMT)

Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., wants to reinstate the military draft, saying fighting forces should more closely reflect the economic makeup of the nation. CNNfn's Peter Viles reports (January 8)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Charles Rangel introduced a bill in Congress Tuesday to reinstate the military draft, saying fighting forces should more closely reflect the economic makeup of the nation.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/07/rangel.draft/

There was already a Republican bill (was it Hagel's bill ... can't recall off-hand) which preceded the Rangel-Hollings bills ... IIRC it included most of the Vietnam-era type "exclusions" and "deferments" ... it could have been moved forward at the command of the GOP-controlled House-Senate 'leadership' (word used loosely) ...

17. Wouldn't you like to see Tucker Carlson being slapped by the
drill instructor, because his bowtie didn't go with the uniform of the day? Rush Lameball down knocking out 100 push-ups because he's too chubby? Jeb Bush's kids on TV fighting in a real war? Hannity GIing the latrine? Wolf Blitzer's kids low crawling through the sand burrs?

It's reality! People will be drafted if Bush is reSelected make no mistake!

20. I don't think Kerry will start fights with Iran, North Korea, Red China
France or Germany, but I look for Bush to do it any day now! The soldiers have to come from somewhere! Bush would have already started the draft up again, but he knew it would cost him the young folk's votes in November! If Bush wins in November he will have nothing to lose and everything to gain, by drafting the kids!

21. Bush* would never sign this legislation
The entire country would be up in arms over it. War is fine with most Americans as long as their kids or brothers or sisters don't have to be a part of it. Even the Freepers are up in arms over this. They know their chickenhawk asses would be on the line and we all know how that one ends. This is a very good ploy for Democrats though. It puts the lie to Support the War meme from the fascists. They will support the war as long as they don't have to sacrifice anything at all especially themselves. I love it. It is brilliant. We are at war "Tax Cuts".
