Limbaugh advises "over the edge" caller: "Don't Let 'Em Get To You...
...There are so many reasons for you to stay optimistic..."

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_052704/content/truth_detector.guest.html

CALLER: But, Rush, it's all of them. The whole Democratic Party and the left, they're co-opting the whole war on terror to get power back, and to me it's a disgrace, okay? On the morning of September 11th, okay? I'm a construction worker. I'm a plumber, okay? We were working on 46th Street, okay? and we watched the whole tragedy unfold. We watched the Towers fall down, okay? and I watched men, steelworkers, ironworkers -- God, we were crying, okay? We ran down. We ran downtown, okay? We ran downtown. Most of us spent the next couple of months down there working. We seen firsthand what they did. Things I seen down there I will never want to see again as long as I live. I have children, okay? They're doing the same thing now what they did during Vietnam, okay? Same thing now, and you watch the media and people say the same thing, that Vietnam... They all have the same talking points and they keep pounding them in, and people in this country are not as informed as everybody else. They go on with it. I argue with people all the time about it. What we did over in Iraq -- which is unbelievable what we did -- but people here still have the perception that we're losing, "Vietnam," between Kerry and all, it's terrible. I did not see. All I seen down there is the World Trade Center was construction workers, firemen and cops dig and go looking for people that survived. I seen first hand what these people did to us and the Democratic Party, putting our soldiers lives in danger overseas and they're putting people in this country my children's live in danger and I can't take it anymore, personally.

snip

RUSH: I know. I agree totally. I think that they're trying to take what is, in essence, a successful policy and a victory in Iraq and turn it into a defeat --

Message deleted? Because if the caller was what he said he was, a plumber working in NYC when the towers went down, who worked on the scene for weeks afterward, I'll stand by my original post that the guy is in for some major health problems.

Can't for the life of me fathom why that post was deleted.

19. I live in New York as well
I live in New York as well. On the morning of September 11th I called my friend who worked right next to the WTC to see if he was alive or not. I was actually supposed to go to Windows on the World (the top of the WTC) on 9/13/01 with my friends. I also applied for a job that would have been at the 103rd floor of the WTC in 2000. I was turned down - and the person who interviewed me died (I don't know if the person who got the job died or not). The night of September 11th, the toxic waste, fumes and smoke of the WTC flew into my apartment through my air conditioner. No one very close to me died, but I know plenty in my community who did. My father is a construction worker, I'm unemployed currently. Republicans are not the only ones who suffered 9/11.

First of all, 9/11 has nothing to do with Iraq.

Second of all, the CIA brought over the blind sheikh who tried to blow up the WTC the first time.

Third of all, Osama Bin Laden and most of the hijackers are from Saudi Arabia and attacked the Pentagon and WTC because the US army was in Saudi Arabia, the US government and contractors were the strongmen of the Saudi dictator who they disliked.

Fourth of all, the US government used to support not only Saddam Hussein (after he gassed the Kurds as well his big crime they say nowadays), but Osama Bin Laden as well.

Fifth of all, if Hussein killing Kurds is bad, the Turks have been killing Kurds a lot worse than the Iraqis in the past years, and the US government gives them tons of military support. Hell, they even invaded Iraq to kill Kurds against the wishes of the US government when the war started. The US government just OKs them killing KUrds in their border.

Sixth of all - Osama's main desire has been to get the US army out of Saudi Arabia - which happened. It would not have happened if 9/11 had not happened. So Al Qaeda's plan worked, attack the US, the US withdraws from Saudi Arabia.

I consider US foreign policy the most evil and abominable in the world. My Lai, Abu Ghraib. Funding contras to kill teachers in remote schools, or to go into Indian villages and kill all the villagers. Supporting Latin American dictatorships that kill priests, nuns and bishops, never mind others. Overthrowing democratically elected leaders in Chile, Guatemala, Iran, and more recently Haiti.

This foreign policy is driven by the US idle class, the wealthy heirs who suck profits from these foreign lands as they parasitically do here. It is pure evil, and now in their desire to control the profits from Middle East oil they are setting up Abu Ghraibs, killing Iraqis who don't accept this domination which they have witnessed from colonial/imperialist European/American powers ever since oil became a key commodity.

The only solution is for working Americans to organize together and try to take the country back from this band of evil idle class heirs. The average working person has no quarrel with people in other countries. As imperialist-friendly New York Times writer Thomas Friedman said in a moment of candor, the invisible hand of the marketplace is supported by the invisible fist.

I've never actually heard his show, but for a few minutes here and there at other people's desks at work. If a liberal calls in, does Rush debate with them or just cut them off? Because I'm pretty sure that Al Franken will talk with conservatives who call in rather than cutting them off, and he's kicking Rush's ass in the ratings.

I never listen to Rush, my nerves and blood pressure can't take it! But, once in a blue moon, some restaurant, or store has his show on. ALL the RW talk show "comedians" do the same thing....if a caller actually gets though and starts to make sense, they cut them off immediately! Of course, it's their show and their mike, so they have a right to do that. The problem I have with it is that they all SAY all the time, that they welcome opposing opinions.

The Bear Sterns building was under construction at the time (Madison and 46th to 47th Street). A friend of mine was doing duct work there, heard and then saw the damage from the first plane, ran down the stairs and took the subway downtown. He was able to help several people to safety before the towers fell (and was immortalized doing so in Time magazine).

away from Ground Zero - so unless he had a TV....
Reminds me of a T-Shirt in a ted Rall cartoon:
"911 - I watched it on TV and man, I am pissed"

I was within a few miles of it and actually saw it. I went voting - with two towers smoking - came out - one was left. Within the hour crowds covered in soot started walking by from downtown with stories.
The smoke came at us for weeks. yet W wanted the Wall Street opened so he had the EPA lie about the toxines in the air. I remember teachers from downtown schools calling: can I lety the kids play outside?" I rememver Saint Giuliani saying: "Absolutely! It's tested - it's all safe.
I remember the Not in our Name postcards we send W - the Justice not revenge protests. No one listened to us. I am angry too.
I was angry for the stealing of my vote, I became seething angry. And I VOTE.

This kind of people scares me and make me wonder.

Why democrats let RW brainwash these people so succussfully? Why, why, why?

With rational thinking, they are not kind of people who actually benefit from RW policies ( or no policies at all.)
It is easy to just look down on them; however, I think it is about time for Democrats to seriously reconsider their marking effort.

Yes, I say marketing efforts!!

I work as a marketing analyst. I think Democrats have been too naive and in a sense too elitist. For example, I cannot stand some of DUer's who still 'complain' about Michael Moore. He brought back lots of working class people to our side which is actually presenting their true interests!!
