when you click the link in a DU thread it is tracked that the person was refered by Democratic Underground, which may lead to the poll being disabled.

I could be wrong but this is what I've always understood.

2. well, I'm not a fan of "DU'ing" polls anyway

but I figure if people want to it may be in their best interest to vote in a way that they can continue voting without someone looking at the data and saying "Oh 3000 people on DU voted, this poll is now bogus, I'm disabling it". At least this way the representation will seem more dispersed.

I don't think it's dishonest in the least, but it's just a suggestion nevertheless. :)
