1. My guess is that he will--

The DLC is instructing Kerry to concentrate on getting elected.

The DLC is letting Gore speak freely, because he isn't running.

But I wouldn't be shocked if Gore is picked for Veep.

2. Gore would never accept a VP nod AGAIN
Been there, done that to the extreme.

A man who was lawfully ELECTED President only to have it taken away from him by criminal activities doesn't ride shotgun anymore.

:)

4. Al Gore should be allowed to speak
If he just gave that kind of speech in 2000, the world would be a better place to live.

5. Please quit saying that
there was no outrage in 2000. Everything was good. What was he going to speak like that about?

6. Gore will speak, so will Clinton, Kucinich, Dean, Clark, Pelosi & kiss ass
Daschle.

I don't think Zell Miller will be asked to speak, I hope asshole Liberman won't speak.

And perhaps others who will speak Max Cleveland, Jesse Jackson, Carol Braun Mosley, etc...

7. I hope so too, but I wonder whether Gore might actually...
...make Kerry look even more lackluster than he already does, particularly if Gore takes the Bush* administration to task for issues that Kerry supported in the Senate, e.g. the invasion and occupation of Iraq. I wonder if the DNC might actually want to shield Kerry from implied comparisions with the new and improved Al Gore.

On the other hand, just imagine the delegates chanting "President Gore! President Gore!" on the nightly news....

9. Kerry is NOT lackluster - stop buying the spin
Stop buying into the Corporate Media SPIN.

Many short memories here at DU.

In 2000, Gore was labeled as boring and stiff by the same Corporate Media.....today he's the hero of the day.

10. Bullshit, watch his speech today...ZZZZZZZZZ...Maybe Kerry is saving it
Edited on Thu May-27-04 07:13 PM by Zinfandel
for the right time and wiil come out swinging at the exact appropriate moment with great charisma and become exciting, motivating and passionate...just when everyone just assumes he's a low keyed, articulate, intelligent, knowledgeable guy which Kerry is.

But he's NOT Mr. Excitement (ala Bill Clinton).

I hope so...because I'll be voting for him either way.

11. in the first place, I don't watch/listen to much corp. media spin...

...so my opinion of Senator Kerry is based on my own reading of his statements, etc., not upon what anyone else says about him.

As for Gore in 2000, he was boring and stiff, IMO. I thought so then and I still think so today. If we'd seen a little more of the post-2002 election Al Gore during his presidential campaign I'll bet he would have won by too wide a margin for the repigs to steal.

on edit: my original reply in this thread was a question about whether Kerry might not compare favorably to Gore, and whether the DNC might want to keep that from happening. I certainly hope not. Gore is rocking these days-- his speech on the 26th was one of the most inspiring speeches I've heard a democrat make in recent years.
