Amnesty International's Take on the U.S. "War on Terror"
This is the most cogent and thoughtful piece on the war on terror I've read in a long while. I offer it for your comments.

1. Of course, they have to let Bu*sh's delusions have the last word!
<snip>
White House spokesman Scott McClellan quickly dismissed Amnesty's conclusions: "My response is that the war on terrorism has resulted in the liberation of 50 million people _ and the protection of their rights."

Anyone with half a brain can see that the Iraqi's aren't 'liberated', but under occupation.

2. Good article
It seems obvious to me, at least, that all MonkeyMan has done is to bankrupt our country, destroy Iraq, and cause enormous suffering in the world. How can we ever point to human right abuses in other countries, while we are using torture ourselves?

This current bunch of neocons are speeding without brakes down a winding road, destroying everything that gets in the way. I believe the 2004 election will be our last hope of salvaging democracy and regaining some kind of credibility in the world.

This is the most vicious bunch of crooks ever to hold power in the United States. For every torture victim, every victim of humiliation, there will be 100 more people who turn to violence out of frustration and a feeling of revenge.

3. Also check out the video archives at c-span for the press conference.
William Schulz is eloquent. And the questions were occasionally really stupid attempts to mute his message--but he fielded them well.

This is worth watching.
