Franken Show - Bush Supporter Called - I Can Almost Pity Her

I was listening to the Al Franken show today, and he had Bush supporter on the phone calling from Buster's BBQ in Texas. She sounded like she could be a sweet lady, but she was definitely a member of the Kool Aid crowd. As she spoke, a crowd wooped and hollared in support of everything she said. She made the following points:

1. She complained about Franken's personal attacks on the president saying they were motivated purely by Franken's efforts to sell his book. Franken asked, "Wasn't that statement an ad hominem attack?"

2. Said that people should support the president, and not criticize him, during a time of war.

3. She then said that she did not listen to Franken's show, nor has she read his book, but its people like Franken who made her gravitate to the right.

The scary thing was that she seemed sincere about everything she said.

nut cases on. That is the reason I listen to Air America. If I want to hear right wing hate and babble, all I need to do is turn on the TV or local radio...

3. Al puts on these con nutjobs so everyone can see just how reasoned

our arguments are when compared to their ignorance and hatred. The aforementioned lady from TX was sincere in her feelings, and woefully uninformed. This is likely the reason these people have to be represented on AA, to expose their true (often willing) ignorance.

It seems they are almost proud of how ignorant of current events they are, just like their hero W. BTW, welcome to DU anelson! :toast:
