Doug Hathaway on Hannity & Colmes: An excellent reply re: MoveOn.org
"Democratic Strategist" Doug Hathaway, on tonight's show.

Hannity: Here's Al Gore...do you think it's wrong for a former vice president of the United States to align himself with an organization that ran ads on their web site comparing the president of the United States to Hitler, and his administration to Nazis?

Hathaway: Well, they were obviously wrong about that. Bush is NOT the epitome of evil, he's the epitome of incompetence.

Ka-CHING!!!!!

4. he's been getting spanked on a daily basis
his routine of cutting off whoever their democratic guest is and then asking for a "specific" answer to a "specific" question usually about John Kerry, and then not letting the other person talk until they "answer" the question then he looks down and ignores them while they "answer" and cuts them off again and says we have to go to break.

Its like clockwork each night but lately the guests like General Zinni have been laying the smackdown on his dumbass

6. They kept the camera off him...
...and there was no audible reaction. They are also giving Colmes a lot more rope re: Bush administration criticism. If you were watching the show for the first time it would almost seem like he had a spine. I'm guessing Hannity's just sitting back, thinking "he'll eat his words in November."

9. Seems like we got an "incompetent" meme going here
Everybody has started calling Bush, the BushCo Gang, and Assorted Cronies -- Incompetent.

A truth meme.

all that stuff happened because bushler was incompetent, not because his cabal had been planning the whole thing for years.

12. Doug Hathaway is my state senator's life partner
they have adopted two sons. Jarrett Barrios made an impassioned speech before the state senate regarding his inability to get medical care for his son during an emergency because he wasn't the adoptive parent on the record. Jarrett has a great political future.

13. The bombing of Fallujah wasn't incompetence. It was a decision.
The bombing of Fallujah wasn't incompetence.

It was Bush's decision to kill so many people that the survivors had to turn soccer stadiums into graveyards.

I don't agree with calling Bush, who is responsible for thousands of deaths, "incompetent," when he has blood on his hands.

15. He's a little of both...
...I hear what you're saying, but by the same token it was his "incompetence" and mock-cowboy bravado that got us knee-deep into the mess we're in: poor planning, faulty intelligence, on and on and on. He's an incompetent guy with blood on his hands. A LOT of blood, with more to come.

The statement accomplished what it needed to...it was like the old Muhammed Ali rope-a-dope. Hannity came charging out of his corner, furious about the "Hitler" ads, and the response was basically "you're right, he's not Hitler, he's an idiot." Hannity shut up and backed off and in that sense the strategy worked.

I don't think he would have sought a one-word definition for Bush if it weren't for Hannity's bullying. He's obviously seen the show lately, and he came PREPARED.
