NYT Contradicts "New Threat" Stories
Here's the relevant paragraph:

Contradicting news reports Tuesday saying that new information pointed to a specific threat, the officials said Mr. Ashcroft and Mr. Mueller had no new intelligence to suggest that an attack was being planned or that preparations were under way.Instead, the officials said they would issue a new call for public awareness and ask again for the public's help in apprehending suspected terrorists who have long been sought by the F.B.I. and whose names are on the bureau's Web site.

2. We are seeing a news revolt
by the way, did you have to ask? They will try to manipulate
you till the end of time

This is what they do, damn Straussians

I wonder when we will go from big bird to the next alert, or just to Dilbert's tie

3. I hope this is indicative of the NYT's new "aggressiveness"
Amazing what they find out when they actually try to *verify* claims.

4. An Administration in Disarray
Nothing else can explain it.

This is just basic mismanagement; with all due respect to nadinbrzezinski, the organizational derangement is so far below the level required by Straussian machinations that the Bush Coup could be said, definitively, to have failed.

It will take audacious, brazen action to reverse this "steady course".

Which is exactly what we should be afraid of.

5. The propaganda is in full swing!
Edited on Wed May-26-04 12:55 AM by FrustratedDemInNC
We have already been warned about potential suicide bombers without any valid intelligence.

Now, more of the same is coming. Al Queda in the US, planning a major attack in the summer, yet we get no details - Ashcroft to hold press conference tomorrow.

When all else fails, scare the people. Somebody else had the exact same propaganda and it worked quite successfully! We all know that outcome.

This is scary stuff this admin. is pulling! Many people will fall for it since they believe * is a bad ass cowboy, tough guy who can "win the war on terror".

This is pure BS, pure and simple.

7. it's just a setup to get to orange alert status permanently . . .
then, whenever anything happens (no matter how trivial or contrived), there's only one place to elevate to: RED . . . and once that happens, our rights are suspended and BushCo can do any damn thing they please . . . including cancelling elections . . . they're just setting the table for what's to come, imo . . .

12. Interesting point, because NYC is on permanent orange alert already
So I wonder what the level will be during the CONVENTION.

8. Intelligence Committees in COngress should be demanding
CIA/FBI and this administration to come in and lay out the evidence. Call their bluff.

I watched CNN with Aaron Brown when the newsreader (a sweet looking young lady) was reporting the terrorist threat. Aaron asked her about the evidence and she just stammered that, well, there really wasn't any hard news accompanying the WH release.

It's total bullshit.

the word collaborating? She was almost breathless, saying that this is the first time unnamed officials were using that word and it was a big deal. Yeah, right honey, whatever.

These people are such a joke.

11. Its complete bullshit, but
it managed to make the headline in my local rag. It seems to AGAIN be serving its purpose, yet the People can't seem to grasp the irony that the rethugs have completely failed at making us "safer".
