Bu$h tonight: It's NOT a Presidential Address, a CAMPAIGN RALLY
The 30 minutes of torture tonight is going to be in front of a wildy cheering, handpicked audience at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa.

That doesn't sound like an address to the nation to me. Sounds like a campaign rally.

FREE on PRIMETIME TV.

WTF?

1. I heard the big 4 networks wouldn't be showing it...
I could be wrong, though...

5. These people are all career commissioned officers...
...who value their careers, into which most of them have invested 10-15 years of their lives, more than their personal opinions, which they have been well-accustomed to keeping to themselves. Most of them wear the rank of lieutenant colonel (at least), and have been recognized as being general officer material. That's why they are there at Carlysle Barracks, PA. They have a LOT to lose by so much as getting caught on camera rolling their eyes or giving the capo di tutti capi anything other than their rapt attention.

6. "Clear Strategy" presumption
I think it will be up to the American people to decide how clear a case he will make.
A strategy to "clear out" would be more welcome!

7. But if the reception is anything other than enthusiastic
then Bush really is toast.

If I were a Bush appointee working at the Pentagon, I would want to be there just to watch the crowd, so I could start making career plans appropriately.

We call it "crowd seeding."

10. I know from crowd seeding
but actually having people impersonate military officers (which, I believe, is a crime) would be stretching things a bit.

I'm highly susicious of the White House, but I haven't had to star ordering foil in case lots yet.
