What was DU like on Election Night 2002?
I joined DU almost a year ago, and I didn't see what happened then. Whenever I read FR posts about the midterm elections, they keep talking about how DU went down in flames. Did the Freepers stage a "coming out party" that night? Besides the rule forbiding attacking Congressional candidates, I don't know much about DU around that time.

1. I will be so nervous...can you imagine if that thing in WH steals it
again. I don't know how I can live in this country 4 more years.

3. I know I won't even touch my computer on Election Night
Regardless of the outcome. If we win, then I'll be partying my ass off. If * steals again, then I don't want to see FR organize it's "ultimnate Freep" and do a Blitzkreig of this forum.

16. we're renewing our passports.
If Bush steals the election, I don't know that I want to stay here. I hate what this regime is doing to my country. I will not stay and watch Bush destroy it any further. I know I'll probably get flamed for that, but you know, I can't stand to see this country turned into a facsist state.

... the final nail in the coffin of the "Radical Moderates".

Furthermore, it was the first night I remember seeing them finally starting to realize it.

11. the hamsters went on strike for
more help because of the overwork ,of course the guys who run the place meant their demands for more help and the critters did their best to get power restored. after the rush was over the guys gave the hamsters a well deserved vacation while we started donating more money so those poor critters got more help..seems everything is humming along now, aside from some dos attacks on our hampsters...

13. Down in flames?
Nope.

We were bummed out, sure.

We also experienced hundreds of Freeper trolls, "attacks," and, IIRC, a couple of attempted Denial-Of-Service attacks (although I might just be remembering some of the rumors).

In the following weeks, we learned that the large majority of elections that unexpectedly broke for the Republicans were in districts that used the ESS/Diebold voting machines, including several Republican candidates that won with exactly 18181 votes.

It was the kind of burning that Prilosec® was invented to cure.

14. Frustration, anger, desperation,
It was pretty awful.

Glad that's over.

I'm convinced November will be quite different. It'll be crazy and the repukes will pull out all the stops with voting machines, close race shenanigans, etc, but I think Kerry will beat that Bush Bastard.

Angry, frustrated. Many of us felt betrayed by the Democratic Party, which did little to distinguish itself as an opposition party.
