Now I'm not saying he's really going to read what you say but you never can tell. :) What advice would you give him?

2. his stepson reads du sometimes
i'm sure others connected to the campaign do also and if they see a good idea they would let kerry know about it.

advice i would give him is to go around the country for the time before the convention and hold town hall meetings and try to get people to know him that way and start building up support in a low key way until the convention and vp announcements are made.

14. Well...
Why does Kerry Eat? Because he has to in order to survive.

Why does he go to the bathroom? Because otherwise he'd die of having way too full a bladder.

Why does Kerry dress up every day? Well, imagine a nude John Forbes Kerry. See my point?

7. Two things
Edited on Sun May-23-04 04:06 PM by ih8thegop
1. Be loose on the campaign trail! Don't be uptight. I notice that you have been working on that somewhat. Keep working. Remember, you want to relate with the American People as much as you can.

2. Pick a progresive running mate. I kinda like Russ Feingold, for instance. He hasn't been mentioned very widely, but so what? Just because a candidate for VP hasn't been mentioned much, doesn't mean they aren't well-qualified.

8. Advice ? None, but here's my question(s) ...
Why did your and Congressman Gephardt's campaigns join forces to smear and derail the Dean campaign going into Iowa ?

Were you and your peers that afraid of the grassroots momentum that a Dean nomination would bring to the country ?

In light of that apparent disdain for 'the common folk' and their choice of a leader, why should I vote for you in November ?

Thank you.

33. Why then is Dr. Dean seen laughing and playing cards w John Kerry
and campaigning so very very hard for John Kerry? Yes I know he wants Bush out, but if John Kerry did all the evil things you say he did to Howard Dean, I do not believe Dr. Dean would be so enthusiastically campaigning for him.

19. 1. Will you please end the drug war and get people into treatment . . .
. . . instead of into prison?

2. Will you please return corporations to the status of serving the public, instead of government serving the corporations, and revoke their charters if they do not, as it once was in America?

3. Generally, and overall, will you please redirect government functions so that they first and foremost serve the common man?

Thank you, Senator Kerry.

20. If I were a Republican
I'd demand he come clean on what happened to his war medals and give a full account of the atrocities he and Sen. McCain committed in Vietnam. I'd then praise the heroism of the Texas Air Guard and their gallant tenure as the first line of defense against Uncle Ho.

Edited on Sun May-23-04 05:23 PM by spotbird
Bush had a spoon up his nose when Kerry was a saving lives. If Bush accounts for his criminal activity same time, this will still be a non issue. The point is Kerry reciev3e those medals for heroism, the medals are a symbol, what happened later is irrelevant. If he left them at a bus stop it wouldn't change the fact that they were awareded for heroism. To complain about the protest is simply a way for those who are justifiably ashamed of Bush's actions to distract.

However, if you think that's necessary to make that demand, you shouls also demand that Bush come clean on why he disobeyed orders in the ANG. Then don't hold your breath.

the sentiment of overwhelming numbers of DU'ers who say, "Why get in front of the Repug Train Wreck, when you can "bike around Boston."

 I hope "THE STRATEGY" works... Because if it doesn't then we are mired more in doo doo than we imagined. I have to hope that when Kerry is Inaugurated, he remembers us out here. The ones who "Kept hope alive, and faught tooth and claw after the Selection, to keep our party going and to expose how America was "trashed" so badly it will take decades to recover.

I think of this whenever I see photos of Kerry's "recreational activities."

I think of us here in the "DU Sweatshop" toiling away...and it makes me ill...how little they care about US!

On Edit: I would say why are you trying to CONVINCE US you're more Macho than Bush? Aren't there more important issues?

26. Why have Bush's faults been off limits?
What I want to know is why the campaign hasn’t focused on the lies of the Bush administration. They could keep it simple and only focus on the programs that he has come out in support of, then cut. Show actual footage of Bush, then post the reality. The Kerry campaign should never lie or exaggerate since the truth is so damaging standing alone.

What seems to be happening now is that the areas where Bush is vulnerable are the areas where they have attacked Kerry as weak. Kerry’s exemplarily military record is called into issue to distract from AWOL. Kerry is supposed a flipfloper when Bush hasn’t remained consistent on anything, for example nation building. It is time to be more offensive (negative is what they will call it) but who cares. This stuff is true and the public needs to learn about it.

But remember people often choose a candidate based on appearances. Those crucial few thousands (or more) of votes he'll lose based on his mop haircut may prove the difference in the end.

36. He should DEMAND to know who shared state secrets with Chalabi
Edited on Sun May-23-04 05:55 PM by Stephanie

A very senior admin official shared national security secrets with Chalabi, who gave them to Iran. Which official was it? What sort of secrets?

Sen. Kerry needs to NAME the neocons and demand they be investigated and removed, starting with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Libby and Feith. This whole mess, the WMD lies, the prisoner atrocities, the Plame outting, the Chalabi treason - the neo-cons are responsible for all of it. They need to be called out, humiliated, tried for their crimes if possible, or at least run out of town. Let's TALK about what really happened here. Some rabid idealogues are running the country, and they have been WRONG on everything.

37. I would ask him to choose Wes Clark as his VP/running mate.
I would ask him to choose Eliot Spitzer as Atty. General, and turn him loose investigating the crimes that have been committed in the bush administrations, and make sure all perpetrators go to jail.

I would ask him to simply state the hard, bare facts concerning the bush mafia, but in plain, simple sound-bites that people everywhere will recognize to be the truth.

I would ask him to push for a voter verified paper ballot, and put in place massive auditing systems for honest elections in the United States.

I would ask him to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine at the very first opportunity.

I would ask him to rein in the corporate ownership of American politics, and make sure the FIRST business of the government is to serve the American people that pay their salaries.

Don't alienate your base in an attempt to win over republicans - there is a fine line you must walk. Don't step too far over to the right.

Other than that, I think he's playing it pretty well. I think there is a method to his reticence(sp?) in this campaign and I think it will work in the long run.
