Why aren't Kerry's numbers higher?
Bush has been screwing up SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much lately, why aren't Kerry's approval ratings higher?

1. Kerry's numbers are good.
Historically, incumbent numbers should be much higher if he wants reelection.

2. Ok, what the hell
Does this question need to be answered every 5 minutes?

1. The country is polarized, Kerry will not get more than 52-55% and Bush will get at least 43%

2. Disapproval for Bush does not IMMEDIATELY translate into support for Kerry.

3. Kerry is not well known to many voters. Contribute at http://www.johnkerry.com so he can introduce himself as an alternative (and a vastly superior one at that) to Bush.

3. I heard an explanation a few weeks ago.
Voters are at the stage right now where they are rejecting the current white house occupant but not sure yet if they want Kerry to replace him. As more people get interested in the election and can see him in the White House, his numbers will go up.

4. Add to the mix the fact that he doesn't want to peak too soon
It's only May and a lot could happen in the next five months.

Also, he's been counted out before only to win in the end...

15. So right Maeve. Keeping a low profile while team chimp self destructs..
is absolutely the right thing to do. If the media perceived Kerry as the "front" runner, they would knock everything but his knees.

5. Do you mean why doesn't the media report higher numbers?
Do I really have to explain this one to you?

6. Heard something lately about how. . .
the polls were skewed by the number of people who no longer had land lines but have cell phones, which aren't listed. Just a consideration. . .

8. Would you consider cell phone users to be richer, hence more
"Republican"? If so, the polls could be skewed in Kerry's favor..

16. when I heard that
I took it to mean the polls were skewed in Bush's favor. Most of those rednecks in Nebraska and Alabama that vote bush don't have cell phones or at least have a land line as their main phone. Alot of college kids and 20 somethings only have cell phones and they are more likely to be Kerry voters. Don't kid yourself that only rich people have cell phones.

7. Why hasn't Kerry cured cancer and brought about world peace?
Geez, he's running neck-and-neck with the most well-funded incumbent in history who happens to have the media on his side. Sounds pretty encouraging to me.

11. I FINALLY figured this out!
Sorry guys I mostly post on dems.com. The POLLS are National. I live in CO, not one of the battleground states and I see almost NO Kerry ads and I'm sure this is true of the states out side of the 18. Bushit is doing a good job defining JK and he is not fighting back in the outside states so any swing voter is still going to say Bushit or unsure.......
Remember, an orgasm:nuke: to early is as bad as not at all......It will happen when it is suppose to !:P

14. I think he is doing very well. You gotta remember, not everybody..
will vote ABB. Some people will actually want to know more about Kerry before they cast a vote for him. There is a lot of time for voters to see the clear choice between Kerry and Chimp. Barring Chimp finding OBL, I'm looking forward to a humiliating defeat for the chimperor.

17. He is getting Gore'd
I don't believe his numbers are as low as everyone is saying. My parents, life-long Republicans, has said they will not vote for him again.

My parents are old-school, Strom Thurmond type Republicans too...they still call African Americans the "n" word.

19. Because he wants to do the same things Bush is doing, only ...
.... different, and 'smarter', like invading Iraq under friendlier terms, keeping a dialogue open with the Palestinians while still kissing Ariel Sharon's ass, cutting corporate taxes to 'grow us out' of our hiring slump, hiring anti-abortion judges while still wanting to not challenge Roe V. Wade.

Every independent I've talked to says there's no difference between Bush and Kerry - and they think that's 'bullshit' (this word has come up quite a bit). And that's because John Kerry refuses to differentiate himself from Bush on crucial issues.

20. Why are *'s numbers still above 20?
The fact * still has 4x% of the population is downright scary. People support this son of satan?!
