Sen. Hagel on CNN
U.S. Sen. Hagel, REPUBLICAN of Nebraska just said on Wolfie's show that he hasn't met with Bush in over TWO YEARS!

Unbelievable!

The arrogance and incompetence of this regime is ... unbelievable.

1. Bush only meets with loyal, lock-step minions.
McCain, Hagel, Snowe, Chafee, Collins and their ilk get no love from this most un-conservative administration.

2. He also said that Roberts (Kansas) and Lugar are in the same boat.
Both hugely important Republican Senators.

4. Ugh. That old thing again?
Personally, I don't give a crap. The man has been a constant thorn in Bush's side from day one. That serves our purposes. Would you be happier if he were a Frist-like cheerleader?

Hagel, like Sen. McCain, is a paleo-conservative who has no problem opposing the administration when he sees fit. That is a good thing. And, compared to Nebraska's DINO Democratic senator, he's Ted friggin' Kennedy!

5. He is speaking up and it is against Bush
Everyone who has been on DU for a while knows about Hagel's PAST ties to a company that had ties to ES&S. There is NO evidence of any wrong-doing and he won by a landslide in 2002, so 1996 is moot anyway. He is obviously pretty popular in Nebraska.

6. And yet they support his agend fully. I have no sympathy for Republicans
This is what they wanted, now they have it and they see what a cesspool it is, they want to pretend it's not of their doing.

8. Why give Hagel a pass....any words he speaks or brush-off he gets
Edited on Sun May-23-04 12:37 PM by higher class
from Bush is nothing compared to his being a Sanator and an owner with other Republicans of a voting machine that is sold for profit and is uncertified along with the others, as far as I've heard.

It appears only Republicans are in the vote machine making business. One had its code and correspondence on the internet. His isn't on the internet, but it is 100% certified?

I maintain 100% skepticism. He's done a pretty good job in the past of demonstrating loyalty for the right wing.

Why would a Senator have a living, working, for profit sideline of making voting machines. Why do only Republicans have voting machines?Who has certified his voting machine?

Our Senate has failed us in allowing these companies and their own member to take advantage of us or creating the potential to rule us.

I gave up believing in Republicans and I'm barely hanging on with Democrats. There are only a few voices I can cling to, some of the time.

9. I have a theory: Bush avoids meetings with other than his minions because
he is afraid of having his abysmal ignorance revealed in a one on one with someone like Hagel for instance....As long as he is surrounded by his cabal, he can sort of hide his lack of knowledge as they answer for him....This is my opinion after observing him in live situations on TV in Quebec, where he was covered extensively by the CBC a couple of years ago....He seemed lost and in over his head.
