Why hasn't * spoken about Chalabi?
I know he's recovering form his little spill, }(, but the public deserves some kind of explanation. This is outrageous! * was paying this guy hundreds of thousands a month, giving him sensitive information, which he allegedly has passed on to a nation that poses a REAL threat to our national security! What does AWOL do instead of addressing the nation about such a collosal and dangerous mistake? Go on a drunken bike ride and smash up his face. Through the looking glass and beyond! :crazy:

1. saw chalabi X2 today
He repeatedly denied giving info to Iran, but admitted, with US support to holding discussions with them. Understandable, given they live next door.

Somehow, I doubt half the things we hear about him. On the other hand, none of his info and data turned out to the correct.

Thank you kindly, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Wolfowitz. Please bend over while I put my cowboy boots on.

Edited on Sun May-23-04 12:05 PM by saywhat
we are truly in grave danger with this moron in "charge". How could anybody be stupid enough to vote for these dangerous, out of control * nutcases?? Their crimes and deceptions extend so far beyond partisan politics its ridiculous. Our very survival may depend on voting them O-U-T this November.

:scared::scared::scared:

24. Simple: They haven't told him what to say yet.
Wait until Condi gets the script together.
Speaking of Condi...what's up with her? Haven't seen her lately...not that I miss her.

5. Mouth-guard problem?
Actually, I think it's because it would be the equivalent of admitting he made a Mistake -- something he's refused to do. It will be interesting to see if he brings it up tomorrow night.

6. They are still teaching him how to pronounce that name
In a couple of weeks, he will proudly make some "proclamation" about him and mangle the name anyway, and won't have a clue as to what the Chalabi thing is all about anyway.

9. He has to stay above the fray...
You know, he has to look presidential and all, so he leaves the nitty gritty stuff to his underlings. Of course, the fact that this makes him look REALLY STUPID and uninvolved hasn't crossed the minds of these same lackeys yet.

10. If they don't talk about it...
it will just go away, like everything else.

I'm not sure all that many people know just who Chalabi is. Why would they want to remind anyone that he is the source of much of the "intelligence" they depended on?

When the Shah was deposed, nobody bothered to make a big point of how we got him the job.

When we busted Noriega, everyone forgot how he was our point man in Central America, with his CIA-sponsored drug franchise.

Taylor, Pinochet, Aristede, Marcos...

It goes on and on. We set these people up, and when they start to think they are actually running their own countries, or become otherwise inconvenient, we dump them.

Never do we admit we set up the wrong person. Never do we admit we might have taken the wrong person out.

21. "secrets that were held by only a handful of very senior U.S. officials"
This is on a level of treason comparable to Robert Hansen. Isn't anyone going to do anything about it? And WHICH very senior officials held that info? Bush MUST get to the bottom of this. There should be a criminal investigation. This is a major violation.

<snip>

Senior U.S. officials have told 60 Minutes Correspondent Lesley Stahl that they have evidence Chalabi has been passing highly classified U.S. intelligence to Iran. The evidence shows that Chalabi personally gave Iranian intelligence officers information so sensitive that if revealed it could, quote, "get Americans killed." The evidence is said to be "rock solid."

On Friday, Stahl reported that senior intelligence officials stress the information Ahmad Chalibi is alleged to have passed on to Iran is of such a seriously sensitive nature, the result of full disclosure could be highly damaging to U.S. security. The information involves secrets that were held by only a handful of very senior U.S. officials, says Stahl.

Meanwhile, Stahl reports that "grave concerns" about the true nature of Chalabi's relationship with Iran started after the U.S. obtained "undeniable intelligence" that Chalabi met with a senior Iranian intelligence, a "nefarious figure from the dark side of the regime - an individual with a direct hand in covert operations directed against the United States."
