George Will on This Week. WOW!
Edited on Sun May-23-04 10:23 AM by trof
Compares this administration to losing '62 Yankees when Casey Stengel looked down the bench and said "Can't ANYBODY here PLAY this game?"

This administration is seen as incompetent.
Never thought I'd agree with George Will.

on edit: I was going to correct this to read "Mets", but then a lot of the other posts wouldn't make sense.
I'm pretty sure it was my mistake and not Will's.
I know he is a BIG baseball fan.

1. He usually annoys the shit outta me, but got to give him kudos for that.
And Evan Bayh is pretty damn impressive too.

2. I never thought I'd WRITE to George Will....
but after his remarks last week that questioned the sanity of this administration I sent him off a note thanking him for doing his part to preserve integrity in the media.

It wasn't the '62 Yankees, it was the Mets.

4. Heh
If George is dipping into baseball metaphors, he means that shit. He's officially off the reservation.

6. Some conservatives are true to their belief system
and they don't believe Bush is doing a good job. Look at how Lou Dobbs is shredding them on the economy.

Refreshing, but they will not be supportive of a liberal, either.

7. Correction: It was the '62 METS
They lost 120 games in '62, which was their first year; Stengel was their manager (the Yankees let him go after the 1960 season).

The '62 Yankees won the World Series in 7 games vs. the Giants.

11. Will can sometimes amaze....
He wrote one of the best things I read about the California recall/Gropinator
election, clearly condeming the Republicans for their behind-the-scenes
manipulations of the situation.

13. Didn't a pitcher on the 62 Mets lose a no-hitter
due to errors and walks?

14. Will can be an arrogant annoying prick, but at least he's honest enough...
....with himself to admit that this bullshit Fraudministration is NOT "conservative" by any means. Let's hope more such conservatives surface and make themselves known. Better yet, let's hope one of them runs for President ;)

16. Did anybody else catch Bob Novak this morning?

Novak said there is no accountability anywhere in this administration.

He was pretty much placing responsibility on the civilians who've been setting military policy in the Pentagon/ White House, mentioning Rumsfeld by name, but still I was surprised he wasn't making excuses for his pal George. He thinks Republicans will still vote for Bush* because John Kerry is "a fate wrose than death," but he acknowledged that Bush* has lost some conservative support.

Novak also said Bush* did a poor job when he spoke to Congress and even made a comment about his overall less-than-stellar performance as a speaker. He thinks Bush* must strongly support an amendment banning gay marriage to secure his base. I hope GW folllows Novakula's advice.
